2023 Game 97: Minnesota Twins at Seattle Mariners

Maeda
v
Castillo

The Twins scored five, ten, and again five runs versus the lowly A's. Nice signs for the batters but it's the A's. The Mariners' staff is actually better than average (4.2 runs/game versus average of 4.6 runs/game). So the Twins scoring six and then ten runs is nice to see. Tonight will be the real test of this series with Castillo and his 2.96 ERA / 3.92 FIP. He's really good.

  1. Julien is growing on me. All I saw him do at first was make errors at 2b, but now... I'm starting to be okay with him.

      1. .285/.437/.487 in the minors. 240 walks versus 311 strikeouts across 1192 plate appearances. That's a 20% walk rate. Julien isn't going to maintain that rate with the Twins but it's very good. Mauer averaged 11.8% in MLB.

  2. Seems like an auspicious spot for a debuting pitcher to come in and make that mistake. Did commentary mention anything about Sweet getting the call there?

  3. Fun fact. Jarred Kelenic - 6th overall pick in the 2018 draft - was part of the Cano to the Mets trade that same year. Also included in the trade was our old friend
