I came across an old FuncoLand commercial recently, a company I completely forgot had existed. I also didn't know that it eventually went on to basically become GameStop. Weird story.

If you're like me and you like board games and deals on board games, today is Nerdz Day on Gamenerdz.com - a popular board game online store.
They have deals going every hour starting at noon Central, and it ranges from board games to role playing games to card games to accessories.
Figure it's fitting with today's topic of "bringing home the fun"
Happy Premiere League Kickoff Weekend to all those who celebrate
"Cheap Pohlads" are not even this cheap
It makes me sad that Brad Radke never attends any of the Twins recognition events. He anchored the rotation while my girls were growing up and was so damn solid, he had that great fastball/changeup combo and the control to pull it off, and he pitched with his head as much as his arm. Twelve years with the team, his entire major league career, only the Big Train, Kitty, and Circle Me have more wins, but you never hear about him anymore. I wonder if there's history there that we don't know about.
It's certainly possible there are some sort of bad feelings there, but I've never read anything about it, and they did put him in the Twins Hall of Fame. The last I saw, Radke was living in Tampa. Maybe he's just happy to close the Minnesota chapter of his life and move on.
Obviously I dont know Radke, but to me he seems like the kind of person to be done with baseball and move on to to next chapter of his life. He doesnt need money, and he was never one to seek the spotlight. Im guessing if the Twins asked him to come back because his number is getting retired he would say thanks, but no thanks.
This article makes me think the Twins and Radke have a decent relationship. It states he has been back a couple of times.
Heading home today after ten days here in God's Country.
We had hoped to see some friends before the family reunion/anniversary celebration last weekend, but my dad suffered a fall almost two weeks ago, breaking three ribs and badly bruising his hip. So we spent the time looking after my parents and ferrying them around, including up north to their lake home.
I did manage to convince him to let me drive them up and back rather than driving separately. And I think I have convinced him to stay in Bloomington to recuperate for another week. He still cannot lie down. Instead, he has been sleeping in a recliner, which has been it's own adventure. (Think: challenges standing up in order to get to the bathroom in time as an 88-year old).
Still, a very good visit. Almost all of my cousins on both sides were able to attend. Many were seeing each other for the first time in years. Lots of conversations. It was a joyful celebration.
I will probably be back again this fall, likely to help clean junk out of there lake home. My brother has decided (mostly at his wife's insistence) that he does not want to inherit the property, so it will need to be sold.
So, if you know anyone who might be interested in purchasing a lakefront property, as-is, in Itasca County off of Hwy 38, let me know.
I probably shouldn't say yes, but also maybe I kinda want to say yes...
Do you have my email doc?
Initials (almost) James Bond at teh Gmail?
So I was just outside in the backyard, looking at the darkening sky to see if I could see any Perseid meteor shower activity (tonite and tomorrow are the optimal times, and this year a good one with a dim moon.'
I saw a bizarre string of lights go slowly across the Northern night sky. I yelled to NBBW to come out and look at it, which she did for a nano-second as there are mosquitos out.
Coming back in, I googled it and found
this.. Counting the lights, there were about 27 in the string.
Yep, too much if that going around.
I donβt even do much imaging, but Iβve had multiple images ruined by those. Astronomers are definitely concerned about the impact of putting so many reflective satellites up like that.
I had a satellite pass through my view of Jupiter in my 6" Newtonian back in the late 70s; that's not as much of a big deal nowadays unfortunately
OTOH, I suspect that Ukraine is very happy to see them.
Pretty sure they don't care if they see them.
