  1. I think the Twins did okay in the Garver trade. This is his 56th game this year, two more than last year, and he's catching about 50% of games. He's hitting very well, 128 OPS+, but 56 games out of 130 is a lot of missed time.

  2. Rocco is going to get tosses pretty soon. He has had enough of the blue's strike zone

  3. almost got a brew ha ha on our hands! (Texas also started it dont know why they are taking exception)

  4. The egress window must have defeated Philo today

Pretty much. I am fully worn out. Demolition is a lot of work. Took the dads out for dinner as a thanks, so missed putting something up. I also billed 2/3rd of a full target day at the office... so, head will be hitting pillow soon. Hopefully the construction part tomorrow goes smooth.

    1. Good luck, Phyllo.

      Meanwhile, way out west....

Our contractor was removing subfloor where the new shower pan will go and made two discoveries.

Thing 1: an AC line set that goes from ?? to ??

I mean WTF? This appears abandoned, since it clearly doesn't connect to the upstairs unit (that line set runs in a metal chase straight down on the outside wall from the AC in the upstairs mechanical room to the condenser on the ground.) I have no idea. Contractor speculates that maybe there was a rooftop AC unit that was removed when the second floor was (shoddily) added in 1991.

Second, he found two PVC pipes, one with an unglued, jury-rigged connection to the other. These are (1) the condensate line from under the AC coils and (2) the condensate (?) line from the (gas) furnace.

FFS. The dumbass who installed these...ran them 12-14 feet horizontally from the mechanical room, then down the inside of the wall to an outlet at ground level. Instead of running them straight out of the wall where the goddamn line set comes inside.

Second, if you are going to join these two lines, why run them 6 feet in parallel before doing so?

Third, by jury-rigged, I mean the dumb-ass didn't line up the cuts correctly. He appears to have used a blowtorch to deform a short length of PVC to force a bend in it to make a connection. It is visibly blackened and bent. Then he didn't glue the connection together! JFC!

Contractor and I then went to the dining room to see if we could find signs of water damage. Sure enough, there were signs of a mediocre patch job in the ceiling. Apparently the repair was done with "hot mud" over paper drywall tape ("not how it is done by a professional," opined my contractor).

But there doesn't appear to be noticeable rot around where the connection was sort-of-made, which lines up with our downstairs bathroom. Small favors.

The saga continues. I may end up taking the test to be a building inspector before this is over....
