2023 Game 134: Cleveland Guardians at Minnesota Twins

Tanner Bibee
vs
Sonny Gray

Day game alert!

Final game of an almost 12-game homestand. A loss today guarantees the Twins pick ahead of the Giants on the waiver wire. The Diamondbacks play the Dodgers tonight so not counting on them winning that. I'd still prefer a win to keep the Guardians well behind in the standings and make the division look a tiny bit less sad.

  1. Speaking of broken, if you're pinch-hitting Jordan Luplow against a righty in a tie game in the fifth, then Gallo shouldn't be on the roster anymore

      FTFY.

I have to think that he and Luplow are gone when Bux, Castro and Kiriloff are ready.

  2. Correa double play. That man must have really pissed off a witch because he is cursed in DP situations.

      1. Which one?

        The Luplow appearance?
        Yanking Sonny?
        Yanking Jax?
        Walking Ramirez?
        Yanking Pagan?

        Every single move backfired

        1. Gray was pulled after 81 pitches against the Rangers too. He also went seven innings then too. He had 93 pitches the start before that but then 80 in the start prior.

          1. Yes, but they had a huge lead against Texas, so no harm in sparing him an inning or two to save for a more important time later... like today

  3. When your best option in extra innings is a guy making his second big league appearance, you get what you should expect to get.

  4. Well, nothing like pissing away a series win against your nearest division challenger to finish off August at home.

  5. This take from yesterday's game log unfortunately aged well.

Twins back up to six games over .500. Seems like every time they have met that milestone this season the Twins go into a minor tailspin.

    1. Yep. Me last week:

I'm convinced the Twins cannot be more than six games above .500. If they win a bunch, then they will need to lose a bunch to never be too far above .500.
