I('d like to think that I) have pretty sensitive hearing. There's something somewhere in the vicinity of a house or two away that's making a sound almost like a hearing test. Just a flat tone for a second or two that's barely audible. I'm pretty sure I'm not going crazy, though I haven't put any resources into what or where this tone is coming from.

If only there was some device that could record sound. Then you could check if that recorded anything.
How would hj know that device was sensitive to pick up the sound? Clearly, he would need to set up a second, more sensitive device to test the first one to make sure it was sensitive enough.
He needs calibrated, proven devices that can generate those high frequencies.
Tinnitus is a cheaper alternative
Sorry, I couldn’t hear what you said there…
VA is free to take the money back if they could return me my silence.
Bad night for the Algonads last night. I grew up a half mile from the scene. My sister graduated with the shooter.

Yep, my in-laws live on on the 400 block of that street, the shooting was on the 1100s
Google Maps puts it at roughly 1,700 feet away
My laptop does that. Just every so often a high flat tone for a second or two, then stops
I have not one but two sick kids home with me today. Both are negative for Covid, thankfully. Yay for back-to-school germs!
I suppose at least this is more efficient than them getting sick at different times?
Maybe they’ve got what I’ve got. Also negative for COVID but miserable going on four or five days. (Pretty sure it’s seasonal allergies, but it’s much earlier and worse than every year, save for a miserable ten days in 2018).
It's been a week since I tested positive and two days since Mrs Runner tested positive (even though she exhibited symptoms before I did - go figure). Paxlovid certainly curtailed my fevers and kept the illness at bay (I lost 6 lbs the first day), but I was not a fan of the mouthful of metal bolts taste during the treatment. I'm left with a slight cough, a lityle conjestion, and easy exhaustion.
Random WordPress question for the crew. Is there a plug-in or some other way to render a WP blog preview page as a PDF with live hyperlinks? Or perhaps a browser function or extension that would do that same?
Live hyperlinks makes this trickier. Reading around says Chrome does it automatically. I just tried with its "Save to PDF" option and all the links on the page were preserved. I don't use Chrome so trying with Firefox without any PDF-related plugins and that preserved everything as well.
That's what I normally do, the Ctl P, Save as PDF, and I never get working links. Maybe because it's a temporary preview of an unpublished page?
You would need to check if the same issue also happens with published pages.
So far, only two music posts and one gamelog have posted. No cuppa.
(Edit: sorry. This was intended to be in reply to the Mastodon thread)
It was zero until recently and now you want all of them?
It's because the two most prolific posters have spaces in their name and Mastodon doesn't allow that. I changed a setting that I think will have the site make the posts rather than boosting a post from the author's account. If so, then that should get everything.
Edit: Yep. Got it in time for tonight's game log and it's from the site's account rather than Philo's.

i have a mastodon account?
Surprise! You would have if you didn't have a space in your name. The ActivityPub plugin automatically created accounts for every poster so posts could be associated with that account. The setting I changed removed those in favor of a single account for the entire site.
Anyone else looking for some prime Sockery to cure what ails the Twins the last few games? Yes, please.
For the masochists out there
I don't see anything there. Completely empty.
