The illness my kids had last week that wasn't Covid . . . turned out to be Covid upon retesting the jalapeno. (The younger one inexplicably tested negative 4 times, even after I also came down with it over the weekend.)
Per the current guidelines (fever free for 24 hours without medication and symptoms "improved") , I sent the boys back to school today. The jalapeno made it all of an hour before going to the nurse's office and being sent home. Sigh.
I've often wondered about the accuracy of the tests. I had a bad cold earlier this summer and both tests were negative but I wondered if another would show positive or if it was merely a cold. Most coronaviruses are simply cold illnesses.
Whole family (accept me) got sick a couple weeks back with COVID-y type symptoms, but tests were all negative as well. It went away quickly enough though so I didn't pay it much mind.
We just ended up following the Covid isolation guidelines for the peperoncino as well. He clearly felt like crap anyway, and it seemed like the responsible thing to do. Though now he's worried about having missed 3 days of school and being behind. (The older one, meanwhile, couldn't be happier about missing so much school...)
I had a negative test on Sat AM and will take a 2nd "rebound test" tomorrow AM, otherwise I've got cabin fever
I am sure we have had it more often than our tests have said, too.
Got all of our vaccinations scheduled for the 29th
