Key player to remember from that link:
Jake Odorizzi, P, Twins, 2019
Accepted $17.8 million qualifying offer for '20
Just got an email from the Wolves for free tickets to tomorrow's game. After paying the $1 service fee per ticket, looks like all four of us are sitting in the nosebleeds tomorrow.
Even if it's by myself, I'm thinking I have to go see them when they come in February. I haven't seen a Wolves game since grade school.
We went to a Pacers game in 20...03? 04? (Edit: Upon further review, I am reasonably confident it was this game on 4/14/2006) against the T'Wolves, but it was over Easter break and KG sat the whole game because they were already way out of it.
I haven't been to an NBA game since.
My last NBA game in attendance was Wolves at Lakers in the Staples Center, sometime in the 2002-2006 range. My friend's wife got free tickets through her work, and they were about 4 rows above the floor seats. Wolves won, I'm pretty sure.
Then, on the way out of the arena, making our way along with the crowd, I bumped into someone pretty hard, and turned to apologize. It was Jack Nicholson.
Iβm going with my cousin when they visit the blender here in nawlins.
We got free tickets la st year through Mrs. Twayn's company, hoping they give them out again this year. I watched most of the second half and OT last night and definitely want to get to a game or two this year. And I need to get to a Wild game this year, the wife's never been to an NHL game and we need to remedy that.
Kid1 seemed to like the little bit of hockey she saw at the adjoining rink after she had skating lessons. I think we'll try a St. Cloud St game or something before we go whole-hog and hit up the Xcel
Huskies hockey would be a good introduction, but I'd avoid the UND games, things can get a little spirited in the stands. SCSU is off to a rough start, splitting with St. Thomas and Alaska and dropping both games in Mankato, but they swept Miami (Ohio) at home so they're actually tied for first with Denver in the NCHC. They have a challenging pre-holiday schedule with Michigan, Western Michigan, and UMD coming up and they'll need to win a lot of those games if they want to go anywhere this year.
What, no Jr A games up there? π
But seriously, get her hooked on h.s. hockey. Pure.
Good high school hockey is a joy to watch. I am talking a quality match up. Probably the most fun I ever had watching hockey was the hometown team knocking off the highly favored Hermantown Hawks in the state semifinals a few years back. That being said, I prefer watching college hockey over any other level. It is more a speed game with (typically) very little fighting. Pro hockey is getting better as they reduce the amount of fights (especially stupid ones). Junior hockey is the worst right now. Lots of borderline players trying to get noticed by being overly physical. By over physical I mean, cheap, stupid, moronic behavior.
Yah.
I went to quite a few Austin Mavericks games back in the day. My physics lab partner senior year was a Mav.
Lou Vairo was a great coach, but there was quite a bit of goonery even so.
Aren't you the same one that thinks Division 3 football is good? π
You mean actual amateur football, as opposed to the semi-pro game at D-I and D-II? π
I get to about four a year. Got my first one out of the way early with the opener with the second best seats Iβve ever had. My brother is the one with the unpredictable schedule, so heβll probably let me know when the next will be. At this rate we wonβt be able to stand not going.
Has any player EVER taken the qualifying offer?
And to answer my own question:
yes
