The Wild did win on Tuesday, so that kind of ruins the title, but that's okay.
It's been awhile, friends, but we're back (at least for the next quarter to half year). DG, DK, and hj kept our focus on the Wild, the changes behind the bench, and the issues with those on the bench. We start with the beginning of the season, the miserable start, and the circumstances leading to the removal of Dean Evanson (which is still very hard for hj not to pronounce as "Evanston"). Next, we take a look at his replacement and feel wanting. Then we go further up the ladder and try to decide if we grudgingly respect Bill Guerin or just respectfully grudgen him. We even close with a little bit of light through the clouds. Please mash that subscribe button and enjoy.
Minor correction: We apologize for calling Eric Bogosian simply a "character actor". He obviously has had a much more rich and varied career than only that.
I've seen it said in some analytic circles that the large number of goals allowed doesn't seem to be a goalie problem (Fleury and Gustavsson have been a touch below average based on expected save percentage), but more an indication of a broader defensive breakdown of the Wild's system. So this might not be quite as open-and-shut case of "bad goalie = coach fired".
The Wild are giving up a huge number of high-danger chances and their goalies aren't spectacular. Not a great combo.
I saved this podcast for this morning's walk, but when I came here, there was no link. Is it just me/Mac/Google Chrome? Did the Censors take it down?
After the site reset, the size limit is too low upload the episodes. You should be able to find it on Apple or Google podcasts though, plus a couple other platforms (not Spotify though). If there's a different one that you use and can't find it, let us know and we'll set it up.
Does an RSS feed exist?
I think this is it:
https://feeds.soundcloud.com/users/soundcloud:users:862835866/sounds.rss
I should add that you can listen on Soundcloud as well.
Oh yeah... At one point that would have been automatically updated.
Okay, it should be updated.
Cool, thanks. Added to the post.
