I mentioned we got the kids a Switch a bit ago. If you're unfamiliar, you can split the controller into two parts. The main idea is so two people can use them to play at the same time, but you can use both as one player. My kids have taken to splitting them, but just holding each piece at their side. I tried it once and was completely lost. Apparently I'm too conditioned to have both hands connected to one controller in front of me.

Licey scored four in the seventh and defeated Estrellas 5-1. Dairon Blanco went 3-for-4 to lead Estrellas. Roel Santos was 2-for-4 with a triple. Jonathan Arauz was 2-for-4 with a double. Eguy Rosario was 2-for-4. Starter Andy Otero pitched six shutout innings, giving up three hits and striking out two. Jefry Yan (3-1) took the loss, allowing four runs (three earned) on three hits and two walks in one-third of an inning. Estrellas had ten hits but could only score one run.
Caribes lost to Caracas 9-4. Willians Astudillo was 1-for-2. Ricardo Genoves was 2-for-3. Herlis Rodriguez was 2-for-5. Starter Luis Escobar pitched 2.2 innings, giving up two runs on three hits and two walks. Gabriel Yanez (1-1) was the losing pitcher, allowing two runs on two hits and a walk in 1.1 innings. He struck out two.
Took me years to get comfortable with an Xbox controller. My six-year old daughter with super tiny hands mastered it in like a week
I just bought a wireless pro controller for the Switch. I appreciate Nintendo's attempts at controller innovation, but I'm set in my ways. (I also wanted a Switch controller to connect to my laptop).
The Joy-Cons are decent but they're so tiny I quickly found them uncomfortable. I used an off-brand controller for a while until its analog stick started to drift and then moved to the Pro controller.
Those Joy-Cons get some bad drift as well. I'm not sure how Nintendo managed to mess that up so hard.
Never had a problem with that.
Maybe my house is grosser or something, but I've had two of them go.
Bad luck. Some people have zero issues while others a lot. You can fix them if inclined since they are so expensive.
I tried that once and it worked for awhile but the problem came right back. I haven't had any issues with the pro-controllers though.
Maybe my house is grosser or something
Doubtful.
I bought a wireless pro controller and 2 wired controllers. I very much appreciate the wireless, and stick my kids with the wired ones or the original joy-cons. We're almost 2 years in and our original joy-cons still work great, though they're showing physical signs of wear and tear.
I have tried the two-handed separated wireless thing before. I guess I had enough time in on the Wii that I could handle it. Ultimately it worked just fine for Zelda, so-so for Kart, and poorly for Super Smash.
I've made two runs at Breath of the Wild
The first run I got stuck at the first Spirit Beast boss because I could literally not play the controls well enough with the joy cons attached to the switch (playing portably). For some reason, playing with my hands that far apart just messed with my head/hands and I could not beat that boss.
The second run, I played on a TV and used a pro controller, but ended up ending the run when my son wanted the Switch back to play Pokemon Arceus.
Maybe I'll get to beat it on my third run?
Just in time to be able to play the sequel too.
I spent hours and hours on BOTW. I'm sure there are a good number of korok seeds I didn't find (I didn't really look for them 1st half of my game), and maybe 2 or 3 sidequests I didn't finish. But otherwise I was pretty darn complete on that.
I've been playing a lot of Tears of the Kingdom since the baseball season ended, and I'm loving it. There's more variety than in BOTW, and the way in which the world is both the same and different tickles a very happy spot in my brain. I'm not nearly as completionist with side quests as I was with BOTW, because the main quests seem way more fun to me than last time. Also, I've found an insane number of koroks.
I wish there were more sky islands.
That would be my #1 suggestion for improving the game.
Funny, I never made a big decision to stop gaming or anything. The last game I did was an online Game of Thrones deal where the most powerful players bought their way to dominance. There was a free option that I used, but if you weren't willing to pay to play, you would inevitably get crushed eventually and have to start rebuilding nearly from scratch. There were players who spent thousands of dollars on that game which I still can't get my head around. Some people have too much money and too much time, I guess.
Or not too much money and the games usurp bills
What game developers call an immersive experience can also be termed obsessive compulsive behavior. People tend to make a lot of poor choices when they crave the dopamine.
Its been around forever, but cans (like soup or fruit) that have the latch that you rip the top open instead to have to use a can opener is an under appreciated.
I heard an Oregon player entered the transfer portal the other day
I watched the Minnesota coach struggle with the decision on a 4th and 1
Word on the street is Ohtani to the Blue Jays.
I thought he wanted to win...
The Angels set a very low bar. The Twins going 0-5 in the postseason over 2018-2022 was more successful than the Angels. They haven't finished above .500 since 2015.
Try watching this to the end with a dry eye.
I almost made it, then people started dancing...
Please add Mike Conley to the list of "guys I didn't appreciate enough in their prime".
Awoooooo
The way they dismantled Memphis in the second half was just workmanlike. This is a really mature team.
The Wolves have been doing this cool thing this year where they don't crumble to pieces in the 3rd quarter.
I think they've even been the best 3rd quarter team in the league, if I'm not mistaken.
