Estrellas scored two in the third and two in the sixth to defeat Licey 4-1. Dairon Blanco was 2-for-4 with a home run. Ex-Twin Lewin Diaz was 2-for-4. Starter Andy Otero got the win. He struck out six in five innings, giving up one run on four hits and a walk. The save went to Neftali Feliz, who pitched a perfect inning.
Caribes did not play yesterday.
R, I. P. ex-Twin Carlos Pulido, at the young age of fifty-two.
That's with just under 20% of the total vote so a ways to go still but a very good sign. If Mauer doesn't get in this year, he's probably a lock next year.
He would have one more, but somehow Peter Gammons forgot about him.
Yesterday we spent a couple hours at the Botanical Gardens in the Bronx. The Holiday Train setup was spectacular. Also, free because the Girl's BF works for Bloomberg and has a corporate pass. Suh-weet!
If you are ever in NYC over the holidays, I strongly recommend making the trek to see it.
Today, we went up to the Met Cloisters above Ft. Tryon. Really neat buildings and interesting medieval (and some Carolingian) collection. "Pay what you want" because the Girl has a NYPL card.
