I occasionally utilize a VPN to access content not allowed in this country. It's always amusing when I remember it's on because I get a whole new weird slew of ads in a foreign language on other sites.

It was 3-3 after nine and 5-5 after ten, but Estrellas scored three in the eleventh to defeat the Gigantes 8-5. Miguel Sano was 1-for-5. Fernando Tatis, Jr. was 3-for-4 with a home run and two doubles. Jose Barrero was 3-for-5 with a home run and a double. Ex-Twin Lewin Diaz was 2-for-6 with a home run. Starter Andy Otero pitched 5.1 innings, giving up one run on three hits and a walk and striking out two. The winning pitcher was Ronel Blanco, who pitched two innings, giving up two unearned runs on no hits and no walks and striking out two. The win puts Estrellas into first place in the round-robin playoff with a record of 4-1. They are one game ahead of Licey.
The VPN I run on my phone somehow interferes with its ability to pair with Toyota’s infotainment system. It took me some puzzling to figure that one out the first time.
When I heard that Luca was getting a special theatrical release this year, I set a reminder in my phone to purchase tickets the day they became available. For whatever reason, the local cinema’s online POS did not release the tickets yesterday, so I continue to periodically refresh the page hoping I can get some.
However, I did secure tickets for the special screenings of The Muppet Movie (45th anniversary), Rear Window (70th), and The Wizard of Oz (85th!!!).
I was watching a colleague argue before the Minnesota Supreme Court today when the Capitol was evacuated for a security concern. Very bizarre to watch on a livestream.
Love something as much as the Immaculate Grid loves using Gold Gloves in the grid.
According to the BB HOF Tracker, with 107 ballots public, Joe Mauer is at 89 votes or 83.2%. It looks like 288 votes needed to be enshrined. So of the remaining 277 ballots unknow, Mauer would need 199 more votes or about 71.8% of the remaining votes. So he's got a pretty good shot to be voted in this year.
Phil Miller of the Strib had a good article last week that mentioned that those who typically don't publicize their ballot don't vote for 10 players, so it's not a sure thing but promising. No doubt if he just misses this year, he's probably a shoe-in next year. Since ballots have been mailed in now, I am not sure how many more people will publicize their ballot.
Last year there were eight blank ballots out of the 389 submitted.
Peter Gammons apologized for accidentally leaving Joe off his ballot, but WTF? He's not playing Jeopardy! with a time limit -- check your work, dude, you're a professional!
He's also old enough that he should consider not driving.
LEN III of the Strib said he wouldn't publicize his ballot before the official announcement. But also admitted he voted for Joe. So only 198 to go (probably).
So LEN III continues to be part of the BBWAA problem.
The article was very... adversarial.
I recall he was the BBWAA president and pushed for some much needed improvements in Hall of Fame voting such as increased, or unlimited, votes on the ballot and revealing all ballots. He did have no problem revealing his ballot early back then too but changed his mind two years ago.
