I was at the Dallas Card Show for the last week. The store’s table was one of the stars of the show and we did $125,000. We’re doing the next one in two months and our only concern is actually having enough quality product to set up.
I also talked to a guy about Fanatics purchasing Topps for about twenty minutes. After we were done, my coworker asked “What were you and Hines Ward talking about for twenty minutes?” Turns out Superman’s glasses really are a good enough disguise, because it was indeed Hines Ward and I was none the wiser until the conversation was over. I also briefly met Julio Franco, who’s really looking his age (as always, it’s hard to say what that age really is).
Does Julio Franco have the most copied batting stance? Sheffield? Carew?
Wow!
It’s cool to talk to someone like that and just talk like two real people.
The Boras Corporation client will reportedly receive a $15MM salary in 2024 and has a $17MM signing bonus that will not be paid until January 2026. Snell will receive the bonus even if he opts out, so that decision essentially amounts to a $30MM player option for the ’25 season.
With a projected 40-man year-end payroll of only $93.9 million on the books for 2025, this seems like the kind of contract a team serious about postseason contention should look to sign with a two-time Cy Young winner still seeking a contract the week the regular season begins.
Jordan Montgomery is still available and I doubt he signs for more. They're all going for Correa contracts anyway.
Snell has terrible durability and issues walks like he’s a trainer for the Biggest Loser. Plus signing him now means giving up a decent draft pick. Giving up a draft pick for what is potentially a one-year deal doesn’t seem like the most prudent plan in the world.
