April 6, 2024: Out With The Old

We had a minor flooding issue with all the rain lately so I've had to run some fans in the basement the past couple days. They're making the new Minnesota flag I bought (hanging portrait style on the wall) flicker and sway in the breeze.

  1. Enjoyed some League One action today taking in the Reading-Lincoln City match. The skill seemed just a step below MLS, by it was much more physical. Honest Abe got to hear more people yelling his name than ever before (and quite a few phrases and words that were likely new to him and hopefully will be quickly forgotten).

  2. re: Atteberry's conversation about Cucamonga--according to the internet, Bugs Bunny only made a few references to it. It was made more famous by Mel Blanc in his appearances on the Jack Benny program.

      1. We live in Rancho Cucamonga, so I’m always find it amusing when we pop up.

We once had to put in an address at a store in Connecticut, and the woman at the register was shocked it was a real place, thinking the writers made it up for Next Friday.

          1. That's the other one we get every once in a while. The movie Flaming Hot was set here, too, since the main guy worked at the Frito Lay plant in town.

    1. I’m so old I remember when the Twins dropping Joey Gallo and Michael Taylor was going to solve their strikeout problem.

  3. It's not that the Twins aren't hitting with men in scoring position. It's that their not hitting, period. The team slash line is .191/.308/.300. Their batting average and slugging average are both worse than Oakland.

  4. Missed the game, but it seems the Twins have busted out their bats with four asses this year.
