Going to need some help logistically and meteorologically to see this thing today. Hope it works out.

Same. Forecast was sunny skies all day and now it's "high clouds" moving in right before totality.
Our destination (Benton, IL) shows partly cloudy moving to partly sunny are the time of totality, so I'll take those odds. Bit more worried about hwy traffic, though, as we have 2hr drive to get there, and even leaving a couple hours early may be rough. And, you know -- Illinois drivers are the worst.
Happy Eclipse Day.

Okay, coming in wasn’t bad and we’ve got a decent spot set up (we'll see how much more crowded it gets, but close to food and bathrooms). Now, we just need clear skies and less than a 7 hour drive home.
We have an 11-12 hour dive home tonight without eclipse traffic, so it's gonna be a long one. The car is packed, and we're leaving the second it's over
We're looking down the barrel of a 3-4AM arrival back to Minnesota.
yeah no. we’re looking for a place to stay if we’re on that pace. kids can miss another day of school.
We're still halfway to our spot. Traffic is nuts and one kid needed to stop.
Turns out when you finally pass the construction and crash, it gets better. We'll eat dinner here before braving the trip back.
We found a nice lot behind a McD's in Benton; traffic sucked between StL and Mt Vernon, but we were never stopped, and saw no accidents
Our 2hr drive each direction was 3hrs there and 3½hrs back - saw no accident anywhere the whole way.
It took us seven hours instead of two for our way back.

For us unable to travel

Had a small gap in the clouds here, so was able to do the pin prick thing and could see some sort of eclipsing, so that was cool.
we’re set to pop here, honey…
about 20 minutes away from totality and the weather has been perfect. should have a nice view.
My parents traveled to Austin, TX, and just reported success. They said the clouds parted just in time--whew!
our daughter and her bf were in Columbus OH at auntC's house. Got some great pics.
Younger Daughter in in Poplar Bluffs, MO. She stayed with her aunt an uncle in St. Louis last night.
