Had me at "Naz Reid"
This is what happens when Woke.
🤣
I couldn't sleep, and then was up until 4am trying to figure out all the different necessary clothing layering options for our family (of 5) trip to Iceland in July.
Am I going overboard with this?
- base (midweight)
- light/mid (think something grid-based like Patagucci R1 or Outdoor Research Vigor Grid
- insulating (like a lightweight nanopuff)
- rain/wind shell (required)
Figuring all of that semi-affordably for 5 different bodies is a challenge! And I'm not sold on investing too much in my kids's (20, 17, 13) gear…just because.
We had decent luck finding wool clothing at Goodwill.
Not really Instagram worthy!
Oh my gosh, you're speaking my language! We will be there in June and I'm currently obsessing over how many layers we'll need. I placed a massive order from REI last weekend (getting the sale discount) for lots of wool socks, base layers, and a few other things. I'm contemplating whether the 2 of us that don't have a down layer can borrow from a neighbor since it's not like anyone in Minnesota is going to need their Patagonia jacket that time of year...
I thought your language was pie -- you multilingual?!
That reminds me that we need to go through our sock stock. Probably should have two pairs per person.
Trying to come in under the wire on the REI sale!
Are you thinking a similar layer plan? For bottoms I'm thinking base (midweight) and either a rain or soft shell. Will probably have one true soft shell hiking pant (at least for us parents) and one less-technical one like Eddie Bauer Rainier.
Your layer plan seems really solid--and there may be some days when you don't need both of the middle layers, but it's probably a good idea to have both along. (It boggles my mind a bit to be packing like this for a summer trip!)
We all conveniently received rain pants for Christmas, and I got myself hiking pants in the REI order since I don't own any. I'm going to bring a pair of jeans to wear for dinner and indoor activities. The boys usually wear sweatpants, which I guess will work over a base layer when it's not raining?
I'm also making sure we all have decent gloves; I prefer mittens for MN winters, but gloves seem ideal for the summer temps in Iceland.
Great, thank you! Sounds like our plans are coming together!
I would check out a Buy Nothing group in your area if possible. One of the few reasons to be on FB these days. We've gotten or borrowed all kinds of stuff from those groups.
Thanks for all of the thoughts so far!
The clubs are very well temperature controlled, but the downside is that they usually don’t get bumpin’ til well after midnight. /wink.
🤣
Cc: to Twayn. You should have mail from me a Super 8 camera.
Roger that.
Pups bringing the offense
Apparently no one else is watching hoops.
I am, as always. That offensive goaltending call is some of the dumbest bullshit I’ve ever seen.
This
I'm still livid about that call. Just outrageous.
I think tonight was the first time the Wolves looked more tired than the other team in these playoffs, even from the get-go. Makes sense, Dallas had an extra day of rest, Wolves coming from the harder series, etc.
Dallas barely beat a tired team. Hopefully they can pick it up Friday.
