  1. I saw Bonds pop up yesterday and went back and looked at his b-ref page. In 2004, he had so many IBB that despite playing 147 games, if you take the IBB (120) away from his PA (617), he wouldn't have been a qualified hitter in just his non-IBB PA (497). Really hard to see that IBB record ever getting broken. Of course if you added 5 hitless AB to his totals that year to get him to the required 502 PA, he still would have had a .357 BA, so would have won the batting title over Todd Helton's Coors-flated .347.

  2. On the Grill in the kitchen tonight, tofu salad with steamed broccoli.

This is such a satisfying main course dish. The dressing is chili crisp/oil, hoisin, sugar, soy sauce, vinegar (Chinese Black, but rice wine vinegar works), sesame oil and vegetable oil (I used canola). Add ins included minced ginger and garlic, some sambal, and three finely chopped (de-seeded) Thai bird chiles.

I pressed a pound of firm tofu, then cut into bite sized cubes. Tossed in the dressing, then added a steamed and cooled broccoli crown, cut into bite sized florets. Then added a handful of roasted peanuts and two green onions, chopped. Mixed gently, serve cold or room temperature. So good and so easy.

You can make the sauce as spicy or mild as you like. Chili crisp is typically quite mild, but very savory.

    Serves 4-5 as a main.
