I don't have any plans, but I figured I might as well take Friday off as I'm sitting on a large pile of vacation days. Anyone have fun plans for the holiday?

We're heading north Sat. AM for Rochester, then the next day on to the homeland by way of The Cheese & Pie Mongers and Pike & Pint. Looking forwards to a week of family and friends with the Polk County fair in town.
I’m working three day games and celebrating restoration of the monarchy.
As one does, traditionally. Clearly, the Founding Fathers were big fans of unchecked executive power.
On the Fourth I WAS planning to go to the Twins game at 1:00 and then go to the Saints game at 6:00, either biking or taking LRT to the two ballparks (with a short rest at my place which is a 7 minute walk from CHS). I've been trying to do this for a couple of years now and there are only a few days on the calendar where this is possible. Now Thursday looks like a complete washout and stormy. Saturday is also a possibility but I have plans that day. Alas, maybe next year.
I've been wanting to do this, too. I'm really surprised that the teams don't publicize and coordinate this a few times per year. Maybe because the people running things aren't actually fans of their sport.
I've been hollering into the void about the Twins/Saints putting out a "Green Line Doubleheader" package since they announced they were the new AAA affiliate.
Day game at one, evening game at the other, and a metro pass included with your tickets.
It's just staring them in the face.
They are probably waiting until the can find some new corporate partner to fork over a bunch of cash as the "sponsor" of the event.
There are two opportunities this year to do this. July 4th and July 6th. I think there was one opportunity last year. I agree, it would be such a cool marketing thing. Take over some Green line trains, etc. The local news would eat it up. Maybe even have some representatives of the Twins/Saints come along.
I will look for next year's opportunities and maybe we can do a WGOM citizen event. I know others who were interested too if it wasn't on July 4th.

Hrbek/Oliva/Mauer/whoever is around as honorary conductors on the trains, sitting up front with the drivers, with special names on the light boards? The photo ops pay for themselves.
Um...nice idea, but not sitting up front with the drivers. There are federal laws, I'm pretty certain.
Ok, so getting the feds involved is a bad idea. Honorary ticket takers or something, but have them on the trains somewhere riding with the fans
Honorary conductor is probably the right title. And both mascots at both games, please.
I sent this idea to my neighbor whose daughter works for the saints. Hopefully, she can get the idea in the right hands.
Camping in Itasca Friday-Sunday. Hopefully staying dry most of that time.
Grilling brats and probably hanging out by the pool is as far as I have gotten for plans for tomorrow. The kids don’t care about/don’t like fireworks, so nothing in that front. Probably just drinking and relaxing, which sounds pretty good to me. High temps at 100+ all weekend don’t make me want to do much more.
Going whale watching tomorrow. Today, we are troll hunting on Bainbridge.
Planning to hike a segment of the A.T. in CT on Friday, Salisbury section up to Lion's Head and Riga. Meet at Wilson's in Kent
beforehand for coffee and the best croissant on the East Coast IMHO.
Packing rain gear because rain. Day packs, trekking poles, water, food, snake-bite kit, Cherry Cola HoneyStinger chews (my current favorite running energy source). Bring stuff to make trail coffee/tea.

The answer is Brooks Lee.
Brooks is often a good answer
