I'm of the mind that once a decade is probably about right. Maybe a little more frequently than that, but not much more.
I think we might hit the fair earlier in the day tomorrow before heading to the ballpark
We go most years, but we try to get there by 9:30 or so in the morning and then head home by early afternoon. It's more manageable in a smaller dose with less intense crowds. That said, it's certainly easier to pull off since we live just a short bus ride away from the fairgrounds.
We scheduled a trip to Como Zoo tomorrow weeks ago, forgetting that the fair is starting.
How screwed are we for parking?
That's a bit of a haul to walk for families from zoo parking areas to State Fair so maybe not screwed for parking, but there's always going to be a bunch of dads who thinks he has a State Fair free parking "hack." Traffic will definitely be a bear, however.
Oh traffic is going to be rough for sure. We're coming from the west on 694, so my plan is 694-35W-36 and overshoot to at least Lexington if not Dale, then work back to the zoo. I am in no way getting on Snelling or Larpenteur
If you opt for Dale, that would be close to our former house and the route I took to get to Como. Larpenteur might be okay that far from Snelling but I'd absolutely check traffic before risking it.
