The Vikes come to town to play the Bears today. If there was more enthusiasm for the local team I might have received some gentle ribbing from friends and coworkers but no not really. No one cares.

The Gophers hockey team flexed their muscles over Notre Dame this weekend, sweeping the Irish on their home ice and adding more punch to their fight to claim a national championship this season. Minnesota was ranked #4 in the nation going into the weekend. With #1 Denver splitting with Arizona State, #2 Michigan State idle, and Boston College splitting a pair with Northeastern, there's an opening for the Gophers to move up to the #2 or #3 slot in this week's USCHO poll. #11 St. Cloud State split their series out west with #7 Colorado College, they also have a shot to move up the rankings this week. And #17 Minnesota State beat Michigan Tech twice on the road, giving them room to climb a rung or two this week as well.
