Our company stopped with the holiday party. Now they give us a $150 Visa card and $150 to spend on company merch. Much better.
The old CEO used to keep track of who went to the party. He thought it was a measurement of loyalty.
We alternate between an afternoon lunch / drinks and an evening dinner / drinks. The years we have an evening event families are expected to attend. It’s a royal pain in the ass for employees who have kids. That version of our holiday party is meant to reinforce the attitude that we’re a family rather than a place of employment. I greatly prefer the lunch version.
I don't mind that kind of thing when it's on the clock and I'm not directly paying for it, but my calendar is packed outside of work, so I really don't need anything to add to it.
Christmas cards: done
Christmas cookies: two batches (Cherry Winks)
trombone packed for Hallelujah Chorus tomorrow morning
We're building up some momentum...
Somehow Jaden got his very first double-double tonight (not that he couldn't, I'm just surprised it's his first).
