I try not to read too much into a single game, but it feels like the season is basically over. They may still end up a play-in team but this season is officially a mess.
I'm pretty mad after learning more about a train derailment in Pecos, TX. Initially was reported one dead and four injured when a UP train hit a low boy hung up at a road crossing, hauling maybe a large concrete culvert from the looks of the videos. What makes me angry is that there were several cars waiting at the crossing, many people with their cellphone cameras out, as well as one motorcycle cop, and the truck had been hung up there on the rails for 45 minutes! The train hit at a very fast clip, and the resulting two dead were the locomotive engineer and conductor. Every public rail crossing in America has a blue Emergency Notification System sign with the crossing's DOT # and the phone # of the crossing's dispatch or response management center. The fact that the train appeared to be travelling near its speed limit means that NO ONE called in during those 45 minutes, and two people died that should be celebrating Christmas with families next week.
One would think that driver would be motivated to prevent damage to their rig and would have called somebody about it. There’s something about trains that causes people to underestimate risk and urgency. I haven’t figured that one out.
Or "oh, the engineer will see in plenty of time to stop." Assuming 45mph city speed, that would nominally take ½ mile, and you'd better hope it's on unobstructed tangent track; judging by aerial map, if it was coming from the east it had a slight curve that would have delayed any visibility.
Back in Scandia for the holidays - only an inch or two of snow - not the 5-6” on the KARE11 map.
Minor holiday crisis when NBBW (a Norwegian) discovered that the Mrs. Olsen’s lefse we bought in the Metro was cut into squares - yes, we should have gotten it in Marine….
Now us Swedes would just cut it into circles, and eat the edges last.
Whenever this comes on...
...here's what I'm hearing instead...
Also, T-wolves were the 5th most googled US sports team in 2024.
Last night I nearly lost all interest in the Timberwolves again. What a putrid performance.
We turned it off at halftime. What a dismal performance.
I was busy last night so couldn't watch, but good for KAT.

I’ll be curious to see who has a longer, more productive post-Twins career between Polanco and Kepler.
Hopefully they're overpaid and enjoy a financially fruitful post-peak career
That is the prevailing MLB paradigm.
Maybe the Phillies will utilize Max better.
Polanco set a low bar with his 2024 performance with the M's.
Did you know that the Star Tribune's Artist of the Year is a T-wolves fan?
Did I know how to write an opera libretto? No, but I did it
Love it. Great attitude.
is there an official Best of 2024 schedule?

Very sad...
