      1. I am all in favor of sending billionaires into space. Mars, preferably. Or straight (you, know, efficiently, not literally) into the sun.

              1. Yep, that explains it pretty well. In our orbit we are going very fast sideways relative to the Sun, and if you don’t slow down, you will keep going sideways and not be able to hit the Sun.

You need to get rid of a lot of angular momentum in order to hit the Sun, and that takes a lot of rocket fuel.

This is also why planets can exist, and therefore why we are here. If it was easy for orbiting material to fall into the Sun, the gas cloud that formed our solar system would have all collapsed into the Sun. Because of angular momentum, some material stayed in a disk around the forming Sun, and that disk eventually became the planets.

  1. Twins are next for ZiPS but Dan gave a depth chart preview today.

Thrilling offseason to see absolutely nothing new but maybe Vázquez will get dealt.

  2. I take more joy over Packers losing than Vikings winning so NFL playoffs already a net positive for me.

    1. I had a real hard time with the Steelers v. Ravens game. I've hated the Steelers a lot longer, more than half a century, but I hate the Ravens with the wolverine intensity of a scorned woman.

    2. I was hoping for the Packers to win if only because the Vikings would get them at home if they win tonight (I think that's how it works). I didn't feel good about it, but that was my hope.

      1. If Packers had won yesterday, they'd play at Detroit next week. Vikes could've hosted Pack in the NFC championship game if both teams had won out.

  3. Ha ha -- local sports news is hyping the Vikes; still lots of animosity towards the Rams here 😀

Also, I'm seeing video outside the stadium of a sea of purple

      1. Heavy favorites? I think they were 2 point favorites and they lost to the Rams in the regular season.

        1. From CBS Sports:

Minnesota is a 2.5-point favorite in the latest Vikings vs. Rams odds from the SportsLine Consensus, up a half-point from the opener, while the over/under for total points scored is 47.5, also up a half-point from the opening line. The Vikings are -143 money-line favorites (risk $143 to win $100) after opening at -125, while the Rams are +120 underdogs (risk $100 to win $120) after opening at +105.

  4. Coaches on both sides of the ball poor couple of weeks. Failure to adjust. Soft zone on defense. Bradford holds onto the ball waaaay too long.
