March 28, 2025: Rapid Park

I worked at the JJ's across the street from here before they announced the plans. I delivered to the tiny parking attendant hut a few times. I had already moved out of town when I heard about the plans for TF and I was like, "that's where they're going to put it? I have no idea how they'll fit a ballpark in that lot."

      1. I've had the MLB.TV app on our Roku for a while, though never had a subscription to anything. Signed up for TwinsTV in the 3rd inning and it was all super smooth once I updated my password. I think I'm really going to like this broadcast option.

      2. I tried signing up for the free preview a few times but it wouldn't complete the transaction and timed out. So I went ahead and signed up for the one-year package and same thing. Turns out my saved credit card has been replaced with a new card with a new number so once I got the new card entered it worked fine. And I agree with Algonad, the picture quality and clarity are noticeably better than FSN, wonder if they're using 4K cameras?

  1. RE: the parking lot. In high school I frequently worked events at Target Center, and we always parked in that lot, because we'd often arrive and leave in a window where it turned out to be free parking. I also couldn't envision it being a ballpark - and I remain impressed that they pulled off such a wonderful feat.

  2. I'm so glad they ended up doing a downtown ballpark, it makes for a much better experience, I can't image going to see the Twins in Blaine. With three big ramps in the vicinity parking is not much of a problem except for day games during the week and those are infrequent. Lots of bars and restaurants nearby for pre and postgame mingling and merriment. Commuter and light rail station right on the premises. Excellent sightlines and field proximity, which is a real treat after the Metrodome. It's been a hub of economic growth in the area driving new property development and construction business. And going into my fifth year on staff now it really is my summer happy place. Can't wait for home opener next week, the forecast calls for a high of 47 degrees, mostly cloudy skies and a 25% chance of rain.
