  1. I finally qualified for our league playdowns as a skip last night. I'm pretty pumped about that, even if I don't expect to make it past Monday because I'll probably have a fairly low seed.

    1. I really want to get to Vinai (the actual restaurant) sometime soon!

Not ballpark related, but on the topic of recently opened Hmong eateries in the Twin Cities, Diane's Place is really good overall (and open for lunch, unlike Vinai) and the pastries are spectacular.

      1. Recently went to Diane’s - it was great (should have gotten reservations, next time) - NBBW got a rice bowl with pork belly+egg - frabulous. I had the Hmong French toast - noteworthy.

    1. Yeah, this is shaping up to be a very interesting finish. And I like the Wolves' chances of avoiding a play-in, they're playing good ball right now.

    2. It's really annoying that the bigger gap is between 8 and 9 instead of between 6 and 7.

I am a Jimmy Butler anti-fan, but that trade is looking great for the Warriors in the short term. They are 19-5 since Butler's first start for them. Meanwhile, Dallas is 12-16 without Luka. Nuggets just 8-8 in their last 16. Crazy how everything has tightened up.

    1. That article is amazing. Emilio Pagan's xERA was 4+ in 2020-2021, and then has been sub-4 ever since, is this because he abandoned the Taco Bell Crunch Wrap Supreme? File it under things we'd love to A/B test.

    2. And then you've got Steven Kwan looting the clubhouse snack supply -- he's apparently the coworker that ruins the free snack policy by taking them home with him.

    3. This was a bizarre “human interest” article. There are major leaguers driving cars that approximate regular folks and students from allegedly communist countries driving Bentleys, Ferraris, and Porsches on my campus.

And yet, while they’re cutting corners to avoid paying for streaming services, cell phone plans, or guacamole, none of these players probably blink at buying personalized cleats, custom jewelry with their own logo, monthly bills at Brazilian steakhouses, elaborate outfits for a theme day on a road trip, etc. “It’s for my work” is a pretty easy justification.

      What a weird psychology.
