Hrbek following knee replacement surgery. I know he's in a stroke rehab center and is expected to make a relatively full recovery. (I don't have any inside info on Oliva).
I just saw John Fogerty close out the first day of jazz fest with basically all of ccr’s catalog. It was a pretty epic show. Tho, the sound wasn’t great at the end and (understandably) a nearly 80 year old rocker looked a bit gassed.
My old man brought back a reel to reel from his tour in Vietnam, and with it a bunch of ccr and The Beach Boys. Seeing fogerty and his sons rock the catalog was pretty awesome. It’s pretty amazing how much influence my old man’s taste has on me.
That’s fantastic stuff, meat. Very glad to hear you took the opportunity to see Fogerty. I think the saying about the best time plant a tree applies to seeing musicians with whom we have a special connection, too.
CCR evokes extremely strong memories of my childhood when Pops Hayes was a single dad. Thanks to how often he played their records, I’m imprinted on that band pretty strongly (and listened to them on my own deployment). Even now my cousins will joke occasionally about how many times I asked the DJ to play “Proud Mary” at his & my stepmom’s wedding.
Upper Michigan ("the tip of the Mitt") has a pretty good classic rock set of stations called The Bear, but when you have a couple decades of great rock & roll to choose from, do you really have to have such a small rotation of songs??
Was interested to see that the former pope's playlist included "An Ending (Ascent)" by Brian Eno
I wonder how he felt about Norman Greenbaum.
well, wasn't in the playlist. Lots of Arvo Pärt though
Tony Oliva and Kent Hrbek recovering from recent strokes?

Twins cap spotted on the Empire Bluffs Trail ("Go Twins!")

I have everything in their catalog, including The Golliwogs and the Blue Velvets. Lots of great non-singles
