Not how I wanted things to start, but the Wolves aren't the only home team having issues at least.

Unpopular opinion: Last night was the third time I've seen Sturgill live and I didn't really like it. The band is obviously talented but when every song is a ten minute jam, it just all sounds alike.
There were some highlights but overall disappointing.
I’m currently in LA for a conference. Couple of notes, some of the best tacos I’ve ever had and the best sushi I’ll likely ever eat (unless the Japan trip happens)(thank you Sushi Gen). I went to practice aikido with an acclaimed aikidoka and got my ass kicked in the basement of a Unitarian church. Good times. The tar pits still smell like Minnesota in the summer —> fresh asphalt. Downtown LA is B-U-S-T-E-D. So many vacant high rises. 1 in maybe 6 storefronts in ‘DTLA’ is occupied. There are hulking new ruins across from crypto.com center which boggle the brains. It’s a weird place to be.
We live way inland from LA, so very rarely go downtown. Tar pits and tacos are definitely worth hitting, though! Natural History Museum and California Science Center are nice too, though the Science Center was cooler when the space shuttle was on display.
My most frequented LA spot by far is Griffith Observatory for my field trips, but that’s Hollywood Hills, not downtown. I’ll be there with this semester’s students on Friday, in fact.
Bummer, I’m flying out Friday morning and didn’t have a chance to make it to the observatory this time. I wandered around the science center’s grounds for a bit on Tuesday and I agree it would have been cool to see the shuttle.
I’m taking my exhibition designer to the museum of Jurassic technology tomorrow - he’s never been and it’s my favorite la “museum”. It’s likely more taco is in my future.
Also, sushi gen for lunch was *chefs kiss*. For dinner I’d have to sell a kidney. I sat at the bar and ordered some run of the mill fish yellow tail, salmon belly, fatty tuna and then just said hit me with what you think goes next. It was divine. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Bummer.

The next time is tonight. Just not for me. I need sleep!
My brother was at the show. We’d hoped to go together, but things didn’t work out on my end this time.
What did he think? I'm guessing anyone that is more of a jam band fan would have loved it.
I’ve also seen Mr. Simpson 3 times with jazz fest in Nola being the least engaging, but that could also just be my ambivalence to jazz fest.
Hangin' at the card shop for a bit -- rhe new Bowman are in, and there's an Ichiro Cano Hernandez
