    1. I felt like that wasn't really too concerning: carelessness and swallowed whistles both being affected by the clock and the score. Hopefully they saw it too and don't play so carelessly again.

      1. I missed the game because the west coast time zone should not exist and my life is a giant ball of stress right now, but from what I've heard the refs swallowed their whistles at the end so you had bad players with a lot of energy and the freedom to whack the shit out of everything. Also, Draymond Green should not be allowed to set foot in a basketball arena for the rest of his life.

        1. Yeah, that dude sucks. The defense I kept seeing was "Well, he was going at his knees, what was he supposed to do?". Maybe not put him in (another) headlock and swing him into the ground like the Ultimate Warrior.

        1. This has been an excellent playoffs for taking joy in the league not getting big market teams to the finals. (NY excepted, but you are correct that a MIN-NYK finals would be the funniest possible outcome)

  1. I thought it would be hard for a modern commissioner to be worse than Selig, but Manfred really went above and beyond to prove me wrong today. There’s just no reason to make Rose eligible for the HOF. He made a deal and had to live with it, and it serves no one to go back on the deal even when he’s dead.

I'm not arguing that Rose should be in the Hall, but I do want to point out that at the time Rose accepted the suspension, there was not a rule that said people who were permanently banned from baseball could not be elected to the Hall of Fame. That rule came later, and it came because, at the time, there was a fairly strong sentiment among writers to put him in anyway. That's why the rule was put in--baseball was afraid Rose might get voted into the hall despite the ban. There was the precedent of Joe Jackson, of course, but that was due to the decision of the writers, not due to a rule. At the time he accepted the suspension, Rose had good reason to think he might be put into the Hall of Fame anyway.

      1. I honestly don't care if he's in the hall, but if he gets in before Bonds, Clemens, etc. I will be proportionately annoyed (compared to actual important things in the world)
