Royals: Not fooled by Vasquez.
Indians: Not fooled by Vasquez.
White Sox: Fooled by Vasquez.
Don't fool them twice, shame on me.
Fool you once, shame on you.
we wont get fooled again
on the grill: steak chimichanga, pico de gallo, and a lime flavored Mexican soda.
Drive back from Boston - NBBW has Luna Pizza waiting (1/2 veggie, 1/2 pepperoni/sausage).
Downtown Boston a night-hole, then numero toll booths, then CT construction season. 2 hr > 3 hr drive. Crax.
Wow. That was unexpected.
Hi guys!
I've done some thinking, and I've decided that they should abolish the infield fly rule.
I'm intrigued. What are the reasons for your conclusion?
For one thing, it's dumb and confusing.
Also, the main reason it exists is to prevent the defense from getting an easy double play, but the defense gets easy double plays on ground balls all the time. It seems kind of arbitrary to say that you deserve a double play for a ground ball but not for a popup.
No, it's to prevent easy double plays by intentionally not getting an out the easy way: by dropping the ball so that the runners are forced at the next base. It takes away any incentive for an infielder to act in an unsporting manner.
I don't see how that's different than what I said.
Sorry, I had to finish my spookystory.
You're saying "it exists ...to prevent the defense from getting an easy double play"
and I'm saying "to prevent easy double plays by intentionally not getting [the easy] out ..."
Dropping an infield fly when there's no infield fly rule begins a game of roshambo except the fielder gets to see what the runner throws down. If he runs to the next base, catch the ball and double him off first. If he stays at his base, drop the ball and get the forceout double play. To me, that's unsporting.
We used to practice this (in the day), deliberately not catching the ball and scooping it up on the bounce. Finesse.
I've dropped liners at shortstop in softball games on purpose because I knew I'd have an easy DP if I did.
Best if you clown pretend to have some issue on the catch - kak - sudden pain - oops - drop ball - visible remorse.
something to watch for: the Twins record for strikeouts in a single season is 145 by Bobby Darwin in 1972. Josh Willingham now has 131 and is #5 on that list.
Consuela Countup II!
That ball seemed to have an unfortunate amount of backspin on it.
it seems like this is a type of game where Drew Butera surprises us all and jacks a home run.
Perfect game. No-hitter.
Time to end the shutout!
Well, we don't have to worry about a no-hitter tonight anymore at least.
well, if anything that Span at bat ran up Sale's pitch count.
I may have a few extra B's in there, but it seems about right.
Now try AJ Pierzynski.
Any Jerks I Zip.
Not bad!
Better would have been: AJ Twin Bane
This can only end up poorly for us.
That doesn't help.
Coulda been worse.
F Youkilis.
Clearly Canadian.
Morneau gets more singles off the fence than anybody I've ever seen.
LeCroy?
He might have been thrown out.
Sleep House!
Suweet, there.
that was the 48th time this year a Twins batter has been hit by a pitch. All of last year, they were only plunked 37.
I believe the difference is pretty much all Willingham.
correct. he has been HBP 14 times this year (2nd in the AL, and his 89 career plunks is 113th all time)
pitcher rally time
boo
Dear Twins,
Don't listen to Dazzle when he says he wants baserunners this inning- I would rather have a run or two.
Thank you.
Stupidlis
So, Mastroianni going for Revere's rookie SB record?
Has 14 to go in 17 games. Could do it I suppose.
I'll warm up the SEND HIM!!
Vazquez, Deduno, Perdomo...they are all the same guy, right?
No, Duderino dazzles batters with his unpredictable aim, making them swing at stuff that would easily have walked them. Unless he walked them anyways.
(I haven't watched Duderino pitch, so I don't get it. This is purely what I've determined is most likely.)
you are not that far off
In his two hit game, I saw what he could be, and it's still not that far off what you described. There's definitely something to him, though. Evem when people put the bat on the ball, no one seems to be squaring up (yet).
This will be Burnett's 61st appearance this year. Only Glen Perkins (62) has more.
this will be Burnett's 168th game in 3 seasons. that kinda surprises me.
Gardy's sick of him, wants to blow out his arm and get a different reliever.
this lineup sucks without Joe Mauer.
It must be bad luck to score zero runs, because the Twins never seem to win when they do. I guess we'll just have to settle for 77-85.
the Twins are 0-10 when scoring zero runs
you statheads and your fancy statistics...
that streak is unsustainable
failed to mention, but the best the Twins can hope for is a divisional tie: their E# is one. If the Sox win today or tomorrow, they have the privilege of eliminating the Twins themselves. (And the Clevelands unless somehow the Twins-Sox game goes long and Cleveland loses to the Tigers despite a 3-hour-later start time.)
