WGOM Fitness: 20 November 2012, Good Day

Yesterday, I was quite disgusted with myself and I told you so. I should do that more often. I stuck to the (slightly modified) diet yesterday and last night after dinner I went to the gym. I haven't been there much lately and I wondered how it would go. As it turned out, I had a terrific ride on the bike -- the best ever. I rode for 50 minutes at 80% heart rate and went 3/4 of a mile further than I have ever gone before. Plus, I felt like I could have gone 2 hours. I was just terrifically strong. It felt good to ride hard and feel like it was effortless. Afterwards, I was refreshed and relaxed. I had a good day and that is its own reward.

Day 119
Weight: 228.1
Total Loss: 56.4
BMI: 28.13

    1. That effortless feeling rocks too. I remember it from a Sat morning "long run" while training for the TC Marathon a few years back. I'd done about 8 miles at a pretty decent clip (for me: 9-11 minute miles) and felt like I could've gone all the way to Stillwater and back. I didn't, because I knew I'd be walking limping the 14.5 miles home. But, the feeling that morning convinced me that I'd be ready to finish the marathon come September. When I'd signed up, finishing was my only goal...after that morning, finishing in under 5 hours became my new goal.

  1. I watched my friend do the Ironman Triathlon in Tempe on Sunday. One year ago, he had never done a triathlon of any distance. Two years ago, a twenty mile bike ride was a struggle for him. He has dropped over 60 pounds in the last three years.

It was really inspiring to watch. I found myself thinking that I should do a marathon. I had to remind myself that I have no interest in doing a marathon!

    1. Seems that we're on the same wavelength today...but I have no interest in doing another marathon.
