CAROLINA 5, SANTURCE 1 IN SANTURCE

Carolina:  Ruben Gotay (St. Louis) was 2-for-4 with a double and a run.  Nao Higashihama pitched six innings, giving up an unearned run on three hits and one walk with five strikeouts.

Santurce:  Jorge Martinez pitched four innings, allowing an unearned run on three hits and one walk with one strikeout.

The game:  Carolina got on the board with one in the second on an error and got two more in the fifth, one on an Osvaldo Martinez (Dodgers) double and the other on a wild pitch.  Santurce got one back in the bottom of the fifth on an error.  Anthony Garcia (St. Louis) hit a two-run homer in the ninth for Carolina to put the game out of reach.
