Fall Festival–Games of 11/5

One run at a time in Surprise.  Scottsdale walks to victory.  Errors decide things in Salt River.

SURPRISE 4, GLENDALE 2 IN SURPRISE

TwinsByron Buxton was 1-for-5.  Eddie Rosario was 0-for-4.  Trevor May struck out three in 1.2 innings, giving up an unearned run on one hit and no walks.

Glendale:  Yorman Rodriguez (Cincinnati) was 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.  Brent Keys (Miami) was 1-for-4 with a walk and a home run, scoring twice.

Surprise:  Jason Rogers (Milwaukee) was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI.  Travis Shaw (Boston) was 2-for-3 with a walk and a home run (his fifth), scoring twice.  Adam Weisenberger (Milwaukee) was 2-for-4.

The game:  Glendale scored single runs in the first and third to take a 2-0 lead, but Surprise came back with single runs in the third, fourth, fifth, and seventh.  Ryan Rua (Texas) homered to tie the score in the fourth and a sacrifice fly brought home the go-ahead run in the fifth.

SCOTTSDALE 4, PEORIA 0 IN SCOTTSDALE

Peoria:  Austin Hedges (San Diego) was 2-for-4 with a double.  Johnny Barbato (San Diego) pitched three shutout innings, giving up one hit and one walk with one strikeout.

Scottsdale:  Hansel Robles (Mets) struck out four in three innings, allowing two hits and one walk.  Cory Vaughn (Mets) was 1-for-2 with two walks and a run.

The game:  All of the Scottsdale runs scored in the fourth.  They opened the inning with three walks, followed by a sacrifice fly to make it 1-0.  With two out, three more walks brought home two more runs, and a single made it 4-0.

SALT RIVER 8, MESA 0 IN SALT RIVER

Mesa:  Mesa had three hits, all singles.  They made five errors, leading to seven unearned runs.

Salt River:  Jacob Wilson (St. Louis) was 2-for-4 with two doubles, scoring once and driving in two.  Andy Burns (St. Louis) was 2-for-3 with a walk.  Sam Gaviglio (St. Louis) pitched five shutout innings, allowing two hits and one walk with two strikeouts.

The game:  Salt River scored seven of their eight runs in the fourth inning, taking advantage of three Mesa errors.  Wilson hit a two-run double in the inning.
