Not much Twins news. Hanser gives Aguilas regretal. Licey takes its first lead when it counts.
CIBAO 4, AGUILAS 3 IN CIBAO
Twins: Danny Santana was 0-for-4.
Aguilas: Wilin Rosario (Colorado) was 2-for-4 with a home run. Dan Black (White Sox) was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
Cibao: Hanser Alberto (Texas) was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Leury Garcia was 1-for-4 with a two-run homer and scored twice. Kevin Pucetas (Texas) pitched five innings, allowing two runs on three hits and no walks with four strikeouts.
The game: Garcia hit a two-run homer to put Cibao ahead 2-0 in the third. Aguilas got solo homers from Rosario and Mike Bianucci in the fourth and fifth, respectively, to tie the score. In the bottom of the fifth, Alberto delivered a two-run single to make it 4-2 Cibao. Aguilas got one in the sixth and put the tying run into scoring position in the sixth and the ninth.
LICEY 7, ESTE 3 IN ESTE (12 INNINGS)
Licey: Dee Gordon (Dodgers) was 3-for-5 with a walk, scoring once and driving in one. Juan Francisco (Milwaukee) was 2-for-2 with three walks and a double, scoring once. Jose Contreras struck out six in five innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on four hits and one walk.
Este: Ricardo Nanita was 2-for-4 with a walk. Angelys Nina (Colorado) was 2-for-4 with a walk. Claudio Vargas pitched five innings, allowing one run on three hits and three walks with two strikeouts.
The game: Este led 2-0 after four and 3-1 after six. Licey scored once in the eighth and Gordon hit an RBI single to tie it in the ninth. In the twelfth, a walk, a hit batsman, a wild pitch, and a sacrifice fly gave Licey its first lead of the game. Sean Halton (Milwaukee) then hit a pinch-hit two-run double and Julio Borbon (Cubs) capped the inning with an RBI double. Este went down in order in the bottom of the twelfth.
