Canberra: Jon Berti (Toronto) was 2-for-4 with a home run. Casey Frawley was 2-for-4 with a triple and a run.
Sydney: Trent Oeltjen was 2-for-3 with a walk, a triple, and a home run (his second), driving in three. Jacob May (White Sox) was 2-for-4 with a triple and a run. Craig Anderson pitched seven innings, allowing one run on five hits and two walks with six strikeouts.
The game: Oeltjen hit a two-run homer in the first to give Sydney a 2-0 lead. Berti homered for Canberra in the third to make it 2-1, but Sydney got two more in the fifth on a balk and an Oeltjen triple. Canberra did not get the tying run up to bat.
PERTH 8, ADELAIDE 1 IN ADELAIDE
Perth: Joey Wong was 4-for-5 with a double, scoring twice and driving in two. Brandon Tripp was 3-for-4 with a walk and a double, scoring once and driving in two. Anthony Claggett pitched six innings, giving up one run on five hits and four walks with four strikeouts.
Adelaide: Jeremy Cresswell was 2-for-4 with a double. Blake Holovach (Seattle) struck out six in five innings, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks.
The game: It was close for a while. Tripp hit a two-run double to give Perth a 2-0 lead in the first, but Adelaide scored one in the second on an error. It stayed 2-1 until the sixth, when Perth scored three times, two of them on a two-out double by Wong. Perth added three in the ninth to put a ribbon on it.
