My brother has me listening to a pop-punk-metal band. I'm not sure if I should like them, but I do. Maybe it's just because I love my brother and we were on a road trip.
Off the next couple of days...it's been a weekend of revelations. Lots of things to work through...
Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman singing They Might Be Giants??

Hey, I like Volbeat, although less so lately since I picked up another album of theirs. The first one I bought is great all the way through, the next one is merely good about 30-40% of the time and rather, ouhh, not good the rest of the time. I think I even put up a video a while back in a Friday music post.
spent a very long half-day at a jazz festival yesterday. Got to hear a tremendous all-star combo from the greater Sactown area, a lunchtime performance by The Kandinsky Effect (a jazz+electronica trio, not really my thing, but interesting nonetheless), the always awesome Folsom High jazz ensemble (featuring the alto player from the all-star combo who was...wow!), and, of course, the kids from our h.s., who played two original tunes out of their three-song set during their workshop/performance. Evening finished with a set from the Sac State Jazz Ensemble. We were exhausted, so we did not stay for the actual finale, which was a set from the Sac State Jazz Orchestra with guest vocalist Jamie Davis. Boo, because I wanted to hear him.

The US men's curling team qualified for Sochi today, so now we all have something to root for.
(Also, while the team is from Blaine, their alternate is a Madisonian.)
I'm glad. WIthout a US team in the mix, I fear the TV coverage would be greatly reduced.
Yeah, although the women were already in, so there would at least be coverage for that.
No Dupont sisters on the Danish team for this Olympics, though, so it's probably just as well both US teams made it as far as TV coverage goes.
Hopefully, there's another telegenic ladies team this time 'round.
Of course there will be, it's curling. You've swept, so you know what it takes.
Luis Suarez's goal was sublime.
Spurs are being dominated so far today.
They've really fallen off the pace. AVB can't be long for this world.
Coming into today they were one point behind the pace they had last season -- which was the most points every recorded in the Premier League by Spurs. Sacking him now would be awfully premature.
In August, I think if you told Spurs fans that after 16 games they'd be tied for 6th place and a -6 goal differential, they'd would not have believed you and/or be extremely disappointed. Losing 0-5 to Liverpool gets coaches sacked, especially since they are trending worse.
What if you told them they'd be ahead of United?
And on top of their Europa group!!!11!1!
Cold comfort my friend.
Lloris is taking a beating. Without him, Liverpool could have 3 or 4 by now.
You never want to see someone get hurt, of course. But come on, if there was one guy other than John Terry that deserved to be kicked in the chest..
you can say that every match and it would not be hyperbole.
Why am I still watching?
I have an alert on my phone to send a message anytime there is a goal during a Spurs match. This is useful for work day matches. After City a few weeks ago and Liverpool today it may be time to turn this alert off.
Spurs now have a -6 goal differential on the season. Le sigh.
From In Bruges:
Ken: [looking at a surreal Bosch painting] It's Judgment Day, you know?
Ray: No. What's that then?
Ken: Well, it's, you know, the final day on Earth, when mankind will be judged for the crimes they've committed and that.
Ray: Oh. And see who gets into heaven and who gets into hell and all that.
Ken: Yeah. And what's the other place?
Ray: Purgatory.
Ken: Purgatory... what's that?
Ray: Purgatory's kind of like the in-betweeny one. You weren't really shit, but you weren't all that great either. Like Tottenham.
[pause]
Ray: Do you believe in all that stuff, Ken?
Ken: About Tottenham?
38 points from Suarez today
And I left Turner on the bench, who was in this week's best XI
I recognize the handwriting on that CoC image! A game (probably an away game) in the year O-Cab was on the Twins that I attended that the Twins scored at least 7 runs with a Cuddy HR? Probably too easy.
Google image search of Minnesota Twins scorecard, no surprise it is from someone here.
Yep, that's mine. August 22, 2009 at KC.
Hey DG, Gene was in town today from KC, and I mentioned that we'd had supper with your family when we were out in NM. He said, Oh yeah, their kid's probably a year old by now. 😉
I was gonna record my progress on "Perfect Day", but my line-in isn't playing well with my computer. I have a dual mic/headphone jack and I think the contacts on the cord are in the wrong place.
Rows, any interest in an Omaha caucus tomorrow night? Anywhere is fine with me.
Sounds good, Mattress Factory 6ish?
sorry, been stuck in meetings all day. sure, that sounds great
RIP Peter O'Toole.
A favorite.

team figure skating?
The world demanded it, obviously. Ugh.
I really wish I knew how to make cool things like a banner, cause this needs to be one
I totally came here to post exactly that. It might be the greatest thing I've seen all year.
also, nice win for the local 5. a little too close against a badish team for my tastes, but a win is a win.
After 11 consecutive losses to them, there is no downside to a win.
The good thing was that Pek got it going down the stretch.
The Youngstown Boys documentary on Clarett and Tressel is beyond great.
I fell down the Wikipedia Rabbit Hole. Not only is Tressel from Youngstown, but so are the Stoopses and Pelinis.
And so is Mom A!
