In case you missed it yesterday, I'll be running a cribbage tournament for the WGOM starting soon. If you want in, say so.
For those that have asked, we'll be using this site. It's free and I don't remember having any problems when I played with kg and another dude from my other site.
Cribbage baseball?
Lou Nanne is going to chair a committee to raise $190 million for the University of Minnesota's athletic facilities. Lou:
Gotta tell ya, Lou, I might benefit from the University, but I'm pretty sure that the athletic department benefits me only in a way that you wouldn't really appreciate.
Touché!
Twins prospect news/rankings.
R.B.I. Baseball is back.
I hope this doesn't end up as some awful "freemium" title with energy gauges or pay to unlock new pitches or whatever. I'm hoping for the best but planning for the worst.
likewise. I imagine it won't have any of the charm of the original and be just a decent baseball game. I hope they go arcade all the way.
I wonder where this one will land on Joe Poz's survey of Springsteen songs?
cc to the Padre: bearrssss
Bears are cool.
Could someone please tell me what the story is behind "bears are cool"? Every time I see it, I think:

Wrong Dakota. Start by friending this fella.
There's my problem. Ich habe keine Facebook.
Well bears are cool.
Hey, that's spookybait! "Just wrap it up!"
It's definitely weird to see her while lazily scrolling through the page.
Rosebud: The Untold Story
I should watch that movie sometime. I bet I would really like it.
I was disappointed. However, the whole thing had been blown up and I already knew the ending.
Sortof like the Beatles or Radiohead: I can appreciate the risks they took and they influenced a lot of things I do like, but I really don't like their records all that much.
Minute-for-minute, if I want to see groundbreaking cinema, I'd rather watch Snow White than Citizen Kane.
I enjoyed The Rules of the Game quite a bit. Ebert compared There Will Be Blood to Citizen Kane, and I think that TWBB resonated more with me.

a very special New Twins Player Autographed Baseball Card Acquisition announcement
Brian Buscher!!
This gives me more joy than is reasonable.
Whoa. I never, ever would have thought of him again.
For when Jeff Cirillo and Mike Lamb don't work out.
I've actually had a few of these. The 18 best beer names.
Vikings hire Mike Zimmer as head coach. That should really generate some excitement in the fan base.
I was holding out for Charlie Strong on the basis of "If Red McCombs is opposed, he's probably really good."
I'm so glad they decided to go with a proven NFL head coach this time.
Just saw the Rockies mascot running around a hotel parking lot here. That was unexpected.
This explains it, I guess they're doing a Winter Caravan thing.
I just noticed that Windy City of the Frontier League has a catcher named Zach Aakhus. That's a long way from the majors, but if he ever makes it, he'll break David Aardsma's record.
If you can hand a pitcher $30 million a year for seven years, I suppose Mauer's contract isn't that crazy.
For what it's worth, Fangraphs doesn't have a problem with that contract.
just for funsies, look at his comps by age. Gary Nolan is his number 1 comp (per b-r) at age-25. Of course, Gary Nolan threw a grand total of 10 2/3 innings across his age-25 and age-26 seasons. He came back for two very good years at 27 and 28, but was done by age 29.
Kershaw's comp list is a wonderful combination of all-time greats, very goods, and Gary Nolans.
If there's one thing I enjoy, it's snarking on Niall Ferguson.
So, the Boy accidentally took the mrs' credit card back to the Alma Mater. He Fed Exed it a week ago monday. It arrived yesterday, having spent a week in Tennessee for unexplained reasons. Good job, guys!
It arrived yesterday, having spent a week in Tennessee for unexplained reasons.
It's called "weather", although a week is a little excessive. You're just going to get another one thanks to Target anyway.
No, it was not "weather." It was royal screw-ups. They first tried to ship it to a non-existent address in Virginia (because VA zip codes look so much like CA zip codes), then it went to a service center and sat, even after MULTIPLE phone calls between us and them.
So far, we've escaped Targetscam. Knocking on wood.
If only the knowledgeable FedEx employees hadn't been snowed in, leaving the subs to flounder and jack stuff around 😉
