Minor Details: Games of May 2

Good pitching from Scott Diamond (two out of three good outings), Sean Gilmartin, and David Hurlbut.  The fifth homer of the season for Chris Parmelee and Kennys Vargas.  A frustrating night for Fort Myers.

ROCHESTER 6, LOUISVILLE 1 IN ROCHESTER

Batting stars:  Chris Parmelee was 1-for-3 with a sacrifice fly and a home run, his fifth.  Deibinson Romero was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk, driving in one.

The game:  Rochester got two in the first and one of the second to go up 3-0.  That was more than enough for Diamond, who did not even allow Louisville to threaten until the sixth, when back-to-back doubles plated the lone Bat run.  In the sixth, Parmelee homered and Brad Nelson hit an RBI double to give the Red Wings a 5-1 lead and control of the game.

Of note:  Doug Bernier was 0-for-3 with a walk and a run.  Wilkin Ramirez was 1-for-4 with a run.  Oswaldo Arcia was 1-for-3 with an RBI.  Eric Farris was 1-for-1 with a double and a run.  Rochester had eight hits, but no one had more than one.

The game:  Hanson homered in the first to give New Britain a 1-0 lead.  It stayed 1-0 until the sixth, when two walks, a wild pitch, and a sacrifice fly allowed New Hampshire to tie the score.  The Rock Cats came right back in the bottom of the sixth, as Tony Thomas doubled and scored on a Wilson single, which was followed by a two-out two-run homer by Vargas.  The Fisher Cats put the tying run on base in both the eighth and the ninth, but could not catch up.

Of note:  Tony Thomas was 1-for-3 with a double and a run.  New Britain had six hits, but no man had more than one.

The game:  Most of the scoring came early.  Garcia homered in the second to give Palm Beach a 1-0 lead.  Jorge Polanco singled in Michael in the third to tie it at one.  A pair of doubles in the fourth gave the Cardinals a 2-1 lead.  It stayed there until the eighth, when a walk, a double, and a ground out tied the score.  Fort Myers had numerous threats, but could not get another run.  Finally, in the fourteenth, Breyvic Valera singled, went to second on a hit batsman, took third on a bunt, and scored on a sacrifice fly to end the game.
