First triathlon of the year tomorrow in Simsbury (kayak, hill-run, then bike). They sent out a possible flood warning, so the river part of the event could be iffy. Supposed to do nothing today but I'll probably do an easy ride on the bike portion of the course.
Next weekend NBBW and I are doing the Cooperstown Sprint Triathlon. We will incorporate visit to HOF and an olde-tymers game on the same weekend - should be fun.

At page 572 in Gravity's Rainbow. I was carrying it when I went to the beer cave earlier this week - dude at the counter was raving about it and other Pynchon works.
Good luck tomorrow, Bo. Be safe.
Hey I'm doing one of those in 6 weeks. 5k run, 8k kayak, 11k mountain bike. I gotta start training.
Today's hill run was tough. Extremely vertical (some parts of the trail were climbing by hand and foot, and it was very rocky and muddy - no-one was running those parts). Also, the down-hill equivalent was quite slow as no-one wanted to sprain an ankle.
I had a sea kayak for the race today. Almost everyone else had a river kayak. Mine was a larger, heavier boat, but I flew by those river boats.
The New York Times has an interesting article about an alternate view of why it's hard to lose weight.
I read that piece. Mixed feelings. Not sure how much was "new" in the piece, mostly.
I'm persuaded by other literature that we have homeostatic "set points" that are difficult to adjust. I'm increasingly persuaded that sugar and "refined" carbs are probably not real good for health, above a small share of diet.
in short, bacon is good for you.
The mighty Austin Crows went 2-0 yesterday in Houston in the first of three Texas Cup round robins, defeating both Dallas (1-1) and Houston (0-2). Leg two is in Dallas in two weeks' time. The final leg is in Austin in September.
