DK is unsurprised.

I heard this song the first time while waiting for TV on the Radio to come onstage (great show), and it got its hooks in me instantly. There were lots of warm summer days soundtracked by this song, as well as the rest of Currents.

I haven't solidified a lot of my list, but this one has been the only realistic choice for "Song of the Year" for me.

Weird that the next song on the album is the worst song created by an artist that I like all year.

          1. Are these all lyrics from the song? I can't make any of them out. Sounds like a Panda Bear record to me.
            /Goes back to listening to Japanese songs despite not knowing more than 20 words of Japanese, of which two are "Fullmetal" and "Alchemist"

            1. They're lyrics from the other song I referenced.

              The lyrics to the posted song are actually very straightforward (albeit a lot easier to hear once you know what they are).

            2. Crap, only one of which is either "Fullmetal" or "Alchemist"
              Something like "Renkengjitsu"? I'm guessing that means "Alchemist" because it's an art like "jiu-jitsu"?

              1. Back up to 20, and far off the course:
                According to wikipedia, the series is "Hagane no Renkinjutsushi", meaning "Alchemist of Steel"
                According to something google pulled up "Hagane" is "Steel", so my guess on the big R word being "Alchemist" was correct.
                Wikipedia tells me that "Jutsu" in "Jujutsu" is "Art or Technique".
                Also that "Renkin" is "Alchemy" and "-shi" might be like "Mr.", a title of an official.
                So "Renkinjutsushi" must be something like a title for an "Alchemy Technician" or "Alchemy Artist".

  2. Also, La Géode looks like a rip-off of the Chicago Bean "Cloud Gate".
    Maybe it's the other way around?

  4. I failed to mention that this song was the only Tame Impala song with which I was familiar, due to the (somewhat NSFW) video.
    I had actually watched that just an hour or so before this was posted.
