Fine starting pitching throughout the organization, but only Cedar Rapids could take advantage of it.
PAWTUCKET 3, ROCHESTER 1 IN ROCHESTER (10 INNINGS)
Three walks and a wild pitch, all issued by J. R. Graham, led to two tenth-inning runs and a Red Sox victory. Tyler Duffey pitched very well, going seven innings and allowing just one run on seven hits and one walk with six strikeouts. Reynaldo Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with a second-inning homer for the only Red Wings run.
MISSISSIPPI 5, CHATTANOOGA 3 IN MISSISSIPPI
Levi Hyams had a two-run double to cap a three-run seventh that put the Braves up 5-1. Stuart Turner hit a two-run homer in the eighth to get the Lookouts back in the game, but they never got a man past first after that. D. J. Baxendale struck out six in six innings, giving up two runs on five hits and no walks. Levi Michael was 2-for-3.
DAYTONA 4, FORT MYERS 1 IN DAYTONA
The Tortugas took a 2-1 lead in the fifth and added two in the eighth to take control of the game. Randy Rosario pitched 5.1 innings, giving up two runs on five hits and three walks. Not bad, but he was bested by Daytona pitched Tyler Mahle, who struck out nine in seven innings and allowed just one run on three hits and no walks. Nick Gordon was 1-for-4 with a triple, dropping his average to .375.
CEDAR RAPIDS 7, BURLINGTON 3 IN BURLINGTON
Finally some good news. The Kernels turned four singles and two walks into a four-run third, putting them up 6-0. The Bees never got back into the game--it was 7-1 after eight before they scored two in the ninth to make the final score look better. Cody Stashak pitched six innings, giving up just one run on three hits and no walks with five strikeouts. Rafael P. Valera was 3-for-5 with two doubles. LaMonte Wade was 2-for-4 to raise his average to .409.
