  1. I'm at the game today in The Monstrosity, and an absurdly large percentage of the hallways, etc. seem like they are unfinished.

    1. Also, there were CIA safehouses in DC that I can find more easily than my seat.

    2. I was in Minneapolis a few weeks ago and drove by the building. I was not impressed with the outside. It looked like a giant Best Buy with black walls instead of blue.

      1. Funny, I thought a shitty spaceship crapped out a crappier spaceship onto downtown mps. Not a great look for downtown.

        1. I agree with spaceship suggestion.

          That said, it's replacing the Dome, so I won't complain about the look. A missed opportunity for better, sure, but no harm done.

          1. The Dome might have lacked charm (toward the end, anyway), but it had personality. The new thing lacks both.

            1. I don't know that I agree with that. It's an unusual looking building, at least from the outside driving by. Unusual = personality, right?

              1. FWIW, I've argued in favor of Marcel Breuer too, because, well, because I went to SJU, but also because I think his buildings have distinct personality in their sometimes awful appearance. (And some are actually quite nice looking.)

            2. The Dome was awful in every way. The only reason for the nostalgia was the two world championships.

              2. I disagree. The pre-Field Turf playing surface frequently made for interesting baseball, as did the roof. You can say you don't like the field intruding into the game, but I don't think there's any denying that it always felt like the Dome was part of the Twins.

                I'm glad the organ (and organist) made the trip across town, too.

                And dido to what Rhu_Ru said – it was nice to be able to count on there being a game when you were traveling multiple hours to get to Minneapolis.

          2. There were a ton of things wrong with the Metrodome, but I kind of liked the way it looked on the outside.

      2. I think it's horrific and an embarrassment to the state.

        Of course, I consider it a monument to a sport and culture that I find disgusting, so my opinion might be biased.

        1. Right. I took me a while before I was able to set aside those biases and say "eh, it's better than the Dome."

    3. I like how it looks from its good side. I like the doors and and all of the glass. South end looks pretty terrible from the interstate. But then a again that whole area looked ... ugh you know anyway. Marshmallow Industrial?

      1. Which side is the good side? The west side where, if the conditions are right, the glass wall reflects the downtown skyline?

  2. I did not realize that today was the anniversary of the "I have a dream" speech.
