Watching that excerpt, I'm left wishing I could have been there to experience the energy in that room. Of course, I'm not interested in being a guest of the state, but I think you follow my meaning. What performer today could confidently play a concert in a prison and absolutely own that experience the way Johnny Cash did at Folsom and San Quentin?
One of my favorite Johnny Cash songs. How about June Carter Cash's willingness to go with him to these shows and put on a fun show as she did.
It was a very different world in California prisons in those days. I can't see something like that happening today.
Over the weekend we were playing cards at Mom & Dad's. I put my "At Folsom Prison" LP on and when "Jackson" came on, most of us started singing along.
