As someone who has worked on a stealth program, I have an appreciation for matte black.
I think Berrios could be considered as well. Tied for eighth in the league in strikeouts, tied for tenth in wins, eleventh in ERA, fifth in WHIP. He probable won't get there, but he deserves consideration.
He's now second on the team in rWAR. Rosario leads with 3.8 and Berríos has a small lead at 2.4 over Gibson and Escobar at 2.0. Similar situation in fWAR, but Berríos is almost tied with Escobar, 2.5 fWAR to 2.4.
I started listening to Ear Hustle last week at work. This is probably the most emotional, and I mean that in every direction, pod cast that I've ever listened to. I've laughed out loud, and have had to fight back tears all in the same episode.
One of the perpetual ads running on Crackle is for a local Sunset Ford dealership with the long-time motto of "Don't Close a Deal 'til Sunset" -- I've always thought that was a stupid saying, since customers don't "close a deal", they buy a car; it's the salesmen that close deals, and the ad isn't for them. Bass ackwards.
We have remodeling being done at the house. While we definitely consider ourselves fortunate to be able to say we have remodeling being done at the house…it is stressful.
I'm in the same boat, we are just about done thankfully. Combining work in/around the kitchen at the same time our kids regularly have sports at 6 has led to way too many dinners at Noodles & Company over the last month.
We are almost done (knock on skull). New windows, stucco work, painting, interior repairs including flooring, drywall, painting, new kitchen counters and lights, new deck and, most recently, a new garage door (which now needs to be painted to match our third half-bay door). Home ownership: Be Best.
Just went through our first major work (full bathroom). The process and result weren't a big deal, just that whole paying at the end part wasn't fun.
The hardwood floors were done earlier this year; August we are having the kitchen cabinets painted white. As long as I'm not the one doing it
I've had children in private colleges for the past 6 years. What is this remodeling you speak of?
Dude. I am going in to year 6 of exactly that. But when God decides your stucco needs to fail, you gotta do what you gotta do.
Today’s experience was a fireplace & mantel install. Fireplace people, cabinet people, and contractor all have each other’s numbers, have all talked to each other, etc. Yet somehow the painstaking back and forth on mantel design did not account for the proper vertical heat clearances. Meanwhile the fireplace person thought we were running the vent up the wall 8 feet (instead of 50”). So confused. They wanted me to make a decision to modify everything at the snap of a finger when the design had taken weeks to settle on.
The cabinet designer came in and worked out a compromise involving adding vents to the mantel so we can push it lower and we were back in business as planned. Then at lunch the fireplace people left, I measured, and sure enough we’re 5” higher on the fireplace vent than the original plans. Turns out they all had botched the measurements one more time when comparing the compromise to the original plans. Basically cabinet guy didn’t have his glasses and trusted fireplace guy’s reading of the cabinet plans. (TBF I like the cabinet guy...some of this is a series of unfortunate events.)
It’ll probably be fine especially because the cabinet folks are going to pay for the adjustments, but ... buh. Now all the stubbed out electrical has to move up the wall. The TV is going to be even more absurdly high. More disruption, more taping (the taper is an ahole), etc.
Breath... it’ll be done soon and I’ll forget the problems in a month or two.

Oh, I’d really not have it any other way. I work with my hands building stuff all the time, and have a yuge distrust of contractors...
Part of the reason we bought the house we did was because it was a mostly new renovation that wouldn’t require a lot of work upfront. Call me in 10 years and ask me how I’m feeling about it then.
If I feel I have adequate experience or competence, I'd just as soon tackle a home or car repair job myself. But I'm getting to the age where it can make me hurt as often as not. Also, I usually find when I have the time I don't have the money, and when I have the money I don't have the time.
Yeah, there's nothing more satisfying than finishing a project of you own, but I'm past the point of wanting to tackle those anymore.
I’d like to think of myself that way. But when it comes to, say, a bathroom and the 15 different problems you have to work through, I get scared off.
I am getting more handy, but it’s more about building things out of wood...and I’m just getting started.

Rochester splits a doubleheader with Syracuse, winning 4-1 and losing 3-2 in eight innings. Byron Buxton goes 1-for-8 with four strikeouts. Adalberto Mejia goes six innings, giving up one run on two hits and two walks.
Chattanooga is losing to Biloxi 3-2 in the ninth. Kohl Stewart strikes out eight in 6.1 innings, giving up one run on eight hits and two walks.
Fort Myers had an off day.
Cedar Rapids is leading Beloit 2-0 in the eighth. Bryan Sammons has thrown eight shutout innings, giving up five hits and a walk and striking out five.
Elizabethton was rained out.
The GCL Twins beat the GCL Rays 5-2. Victor Tademo was 3-for-5.
The DSL Twins beat the DSL Rockies 5-4. Wander Valdez hit his second home run of the season. The Rockies made five errors and issued seven walks.
