I noticed on my daily morning visit to IMDB that there was an Andromeda Strain mini-series back a decade ago (I loved the 70's movie). Watching the trailer, I realized that I had watched it. It was thatmemorable.

Sometimes I’m taken aback by this franchise’s ability to shoot itself in the foot. It is something else.
It's truly breathtaking. But I mean, they went to the playoffs for the first time in 13 years last year and it was frickin miserable. This crazy stuff is way more entertaining. Remember when this was the only relationship drama we had to worry about:

If you're already doing the guy's job, why not fire him? Just replace him with an assistant and move on with an interim coach for the year. It's already a wasted season.

He's getting paid one way or another. If others are already doing his job, get him out of the building. It costs nothing to escort him to his car. (Other than the destruction he'll cause on his way out.)
But if Glen pays him to go away, he'll also be paying someone else to come and coach, so it would cost him more to fire Thibs.
Not really too much more. He'd just name an assistant as interim.
Maybe Taylor was misquoted and he was telling everyone that Thibs is available for trade.
