Looks like Joe had a cup of Joe ready to go, but I don't see a way that I can publish his unpublished cup, so I'm just brewing some more here. The point is: baseball.

Well, it turns out that if you don't categorize it correctly, it still isn't a cup of coffee...
I was already working on fixing it. But I had a weird computer thing happen (it was like the spacebar was permanently depressed and I couldn't do anything else because of that), so then I restarted and... by the time I got back to it, just a couple minutes later, some bully had left this comment picking on me. Sheesh. 😉
I'm adding "Official Bully of the WGOM" to my resume!
I'd hire you!
Wait.
Local law firm big shots followed up their 2016 SB ad with one yesterday:
I'm apparently in the minority, but I thought it was a good and entertaining game yesterday. I was unimpressed by the commercials, but I'm not exactly in the target demographic, so I can't say whether they were effective. I still miss the old days when companies tried to tell you how good and useful their product was rather than trying to convince you how socially responsible they are.
I watched exactly 0 minutes of the game, including commercials. But I made sure to watch the Avengers, Captain Marvel, and Toy Story 4 trailers after the game.
I couldn't stay awake through much of the game. I couldn't believe the lowest scoring Super Bowl had an offensive player as MVP.
You must be a fan of punting.
Was the punting good? Teams get pinned behind the 20 often? Attempted runs nearly get tackled in their own endzone?
Or was it just painful touchbacks and fair catches?
I see New England returned 2 of 9 punts for 7 and -5 yards.
Los Angeles returned 2 of 5 punts for 13 and -1 yards.
But one of LA's 9 punts was 65 yards. Highlight of the game?
longest punt in Super Bowl history! (although it rolled about 35 yards)
I thought the punting was good and actually enjoyed it. I don’t remember any touchbacks and there were a handful of pins inside the 10. One punt bounced backward off the 1 or 2. I think those plays are underrated in excitement. Downing the ball deep is worth 15+ yards and I love the potential for a safety, even if it us rarely going to happen.
There were a couple interesting calls, too, like NE going for it on 4th with less than 2 minutes in the first half.
Both sides had good pass rushes, so it didn’t feel so much like the teams were playing all that poorly (and there weren’t many penalties), though I think Goff probably missed a lot of reads and Brady didn’t have much outside of Edelman and Gronkowski. If Brady had had a better deep threat, I bet the game would have had more scores, but not been as entertaining (at least to me.)
I'm a fan of good defense, and there was a lot of good defense played yesterday.
I made the mistake of clicking on yet another Will Leitch listicle, so let’s get something from this:
Who is the Twins’ active leader in bWAR accumulated in a Twins uniform? For bonus points, guess the leading total and where it ranks among team leaders in the American League.
If Mauer is hired as a coach, does that count?
Ding!
HPR wanted to watch the game so we had it on while I played games on an iPad.
I then realized everyone but me was in the study watching Netflix with my wife. So we switched to that when their show was over.
I wanted to follow up to this comment from early January.
My November and December wasn't super healthy so I had gained some weight back and was at 172# at the start of 2019. As I suggested in my post I made a special effort to combat what was normally a winter weight gain, My strategy was cut down on snacking and specifically no food after 7:00p. I fasted on Wednesdays after having breakfast, I meditiated every day, did Pilates and other exercises (walking, bike trainer, snowshoeing). I also did some stuff to strengthen my lower back as i was having issues and that shuts down potential for excercise. Results? I was down 8 pounds in January and have no reason to believe I can't sustain these same activities in February. I've cut down on sweets but not entirely so that is a place for improvement. Also no cutdown on carbs or alcohol. Just think where I would be if those were reduced/elimanated? Ha!
Congratulations!
Way to go!
