Setting this up the night before. I have no idea who will be on this team when I wake up.

With no value judgments intended, let me just see if I'm up-to-date on the Twins' moves over the weekend.
They acquired:
Sonny Gray
Gio Urshela
Gary Sanchez
Francis Peguero
Isiah Kiner-Falefa
They traded away:
Josh Donaldson
Mitch Garver
Chase Petty
Ben Rortvedt
Isiah Kiner-Falefa
Did I miss anyone?
I see I did miss someone. The Twins also acquired Ronny Henriquez.
I have only heard of 3 of these players, and I have no idea about their relative qualities anymore.
I am so out of the loop
Just curious, who on this site thinks the Twins can contend this year? If they can't contend, why trade away a couple prospects this weekend?
TBD. Not done yet.
I didn't say they were.
Well, "can" is a tricky word. If enough things would go right, then yes, they "can" contend. But I don't expect them to.
Do we have a NCAA pick'em to renew? Is that Spooky's job?
I wouldnt mind doing a bracket
Trivia Time:
Ben Rortvedt isn't the first young catcher the Twins have traded to the Yankees. They once traded a switch-hitting, two-time All-Star backstop to New York, but while New York easily won that trade, that catcher never won a ring. The other catcher batted right-handed and wears two World Series rings; he hit .308/.372/.564 across three separate World Series. Both catchers played more games with the Twins than Rortvedt, and both finished their careers with more than 25 rWAR.
The first catcher celebrates his birthday today. Who was the second catcher?
I sure hope Jake Cave getting assigned a single-digit uniform number instead of 60 isn’t indicative of the Twins’ plans for outfield depth.
hmm, something is missing from this list…
Rolling Stone Readers Pick the Best Lead Singers of All Time: 1. Robert Plant 2. Freddie Mercury 3. Bono 4. Mick Jagger 5. Jim Morrison 6. Roger Daltrey 7. Eddie Vedder 8. John Lennon 9. Chris Cornell 10. Kurt Cobain
I wonder which is older, the average age of those singers or the average age of those who participated in the survey?
you can get a good guess which demographic they're from as well.
73+45*+61+78+27*+78+57+40*+52*+27* = 53.8 average age and that's including the five that died young. Going by birth year, the average age would be 70. Seven were born in the '40s and the other three in the '60s. None in the '50s.
That average brought down by Cobain and Vedder, which for the life of me I don't know how they made this list. Also Jim Morrison? John Lennon had a decent voice but top 10? Jagger? I can think of 4-5 other things about him performing before I went with vocals.
Plant, Daltry, Mercury, and Cornell would be the only 10 that really should be there.
The thing is, John Lennon wasn’t even the best singer in the Beatles.
And one could argue that Kurt wasn't the best singer in Nirvana.
Perhaps, although I do think Cobain was the more indelible/memorable singer.
Mainly, I was riffing on Lennon’s crack about Ringo not being the best drummer in the Beatles. Paul was the best drummer and the best singer.

I know the first one without the birthday clue:
Aye, me too.
The second is tricksy, as the NYY part is something of a misdirection. I had all but Battey'd both his Twins tenure and his Yankme time.
Chaps’ recaps have featured his name a few times in recent days.
Thanks! It's nice to know someone is reading them.

Correct!

Chad Kroeger?
females?
ding. that's one part.
it's an awfully white list.
And old.

Fear not, zombie runners are rising again.
Btw, did someone not mention pie?
Uh, if you aren't watching the Wolves tonight, you should turn it on. Towns is playing absurd.
He got that BS flagrant foul and went OFF after that
Hell of a performance tonight
