Day 3 on Project Gate Repair. I replaced the top T-hinge with a beefier, 8-incher.
I then started dry-fitting. Well, shit. Not only was the gate originally not plumb, but it was the same width as the space between the posts. A very tight fit. So I had to start shaving the sides with my newly-acquired wood chisel set (Harbor Freight is Candy Land). Shave, shave, shave.
Unfortunately there is a screw on the bottom corner of the latch side, holding a tension cable. In shaving that edge, I chewed into some rotted wood around that screw. It is still holding, but for how long, I don't know. I will putty around it tomorrow and think good thoughts.
Meanwhile, I smoked some baby backs and some asparagus. Black beans, french bread, and a New Belgium Trippel, plus the Mrs made a strawberry galette for dessert. Yea!
Abatron is the droid you’re looking for. Woodepox will last longer than any other exterior putty.
A busy day in the card aisle.
Mmmm, baseball cards...

Ooh. Thanks, meat!
