Heading to my 5th Gen Con this week. I'm getting super pumped and hyped, even though I can't really say there's many games I'm looking to buy over the weekend. I've just come to really enjoy being there and in the mix.
Yesterday I decided to jump in the car and drive out to the town I grew up in, Harris, to watch some over 50 fastpitch softball. A bunch of guys I played with set up a tournament during Harris Days and the powers that be designated it as the over 50 state tournament for this year. It was pretty fun catching up with the fellas and watching some ball again. It stirred up some longing to play that game again. The hometown team tried to recruit me to play as their entire roster was injured in some fashion after 2 days of games. I politely declined, but I may have to work myself back into game shape for next year.
In some ways, I can't think of a worse activity for my hamstrings. Stand around for awhile and then sprint.
But it does sound really fun. I wonder if I could even catch up to a fast pitch softball at this point.
Bunt! I'm sure that would be good for the ol' hammies!
I played on a medium pitch (no windmill) team when I was 18 and 19. I would bunt once per game. I was coming off the state track meet playing against thirty year olds so I was easily the fastest player in the league. And not anything better than a singles hitter.
!!!
Go men's gymnastics!
Of note if you are a Vampire Weekend fan.

Yet another concert where my buying in advance (5 tickets!) was a terrible mistake. Of course at the time of purchase there was only one night.
The USA Ladies 7s are into the final four. There is a very good chance they come away with a medal!
Very cool fencing final
Early lead and some quality wigglin' by SWR
Pitchers, meet wall
If only there were some way to reinforce the pitching staff between now & the end of the season…
Woulda taken a shutout the way the offense is "producing" tonight
Is it too late to make Wallner a two-way player?
