      I am choosing to hope that the succession of deep self-inflicted wounds caused to our alliances, economy, reputation, and security are so profound that the fallout makes this cancerous dogma and those who profess & wield it radioactive for generations. I fear that many of us will have to endure that strong medicine to preserve any hope for future generations, and that many of us, particularly the most vulnerable (and to say nothing of the planet itself), won’t ever recover even if we survive it.

      It’s not even a partisan issue. Large across-the-board tariffs have been recognized as an incredibly stupid policy by conservative and liberal economists and politicians for decades. Congress could get off their ass and repeal these tariffs (please do this), but the reputational damage is already done.
