Columbus 2, Rochester 0 in Rochester (Game 1--Scheduled 7 innings).  The Clippers scored two in the first and that was it.  Jeff Bailey singled and doubled.  Luke Hughes and Aaron Bates each had two hits, with Bates raising his average to .315.  Scott Diamond pitched a complete game, giving up two runs on eight hits and a walk.

Rochester 4, Columbus 3 in Rochester (Game 2--Scheduled 7 innings).  The Red Wings scored two in the sixth to tie and one in the seventh to win.  Ray Chang singled in Rene Rivera with the winning run.  Jeff Bailey hit a two-run homer.  Jake Stevens gave up three runs on three hits and three walks, striking out three in three innings.  Carlos Gutierrez struck out four in two innings, giving up a hit and a walk.  Chuck James went two shutout innings to get the win, allowing a hit and a walk.

Burlington 2, Beloit 1 in Beloit.  All the runs were scored in the fourth inning.  Daniel Ortiz had two hits.  Blayne Weller gave up two runs (one earned) on two hits and two walks while striking out four in four innings.  Bart Carter and Michael Tonkin each worked two shutout innings, with Carter giving up two hits and Tonkin three.

GCL Orioles 7, Twins 1 at Twins.  The Orioles scored three in the third to take a 4-0 lead.  Hung Yi Chen allowed four runs (two earned) on five hits while striking out three in three innings.  Tyler Herr threw two perfect innings.

DSL Twins 5, Rockies 3 at Twins.  The Twins scored four in the fourth to break a 1-1 tie.  Erick Gonzalez had two doubles.  Jose Ramirez had two hits.  Francisco Nunez raised his record to 9-1, giving up a run on three hits and no walks while striking out seven in seven innings.  Ezequiel Zarzuela gave up a run on a hit and a walk in 1.1 innings to get the save.

New Britain 3, Bowie 0 in Bowie (Game 1--Scheduled 7 innings).  The Rock Cats scored in the third, fifth, and sixth.  Chris Parmelee and Evan Bigley each singled and doubled.  Brian Dozier hit a home run and is now batting .315.  Spencer Steedley struck out four in four innings, giving up two hits and a walk.  Deolis Guerra got the win with three innings of relief, giving up just one hit.

New Britain 6, Bowie 1 in Bowie (Game 2--Scheduled 7 innings).  The Rock Cats built a 4-0 lead after three.  Deibinson Romero had two singles and a homer, his eleventh.  Mike Hollimon singled and tripled.  Joe Benson hit his eleventh homer.  Brett Jacobson worked four innings, giving up a run on four hits.  Tyler Robertson got the win with three innings of relief, striking out six while giving up three hits.

Palm Beach 9, Ft. Myers 3 in Ft. Myers.  The Cardinals scored three in the second and led all the way.  The Miracle had just four hits.  Tom Stuifbergen allowed five runs (four earned) on six hits and a walk in five innings. 

Burlington 3, Beloit 0 in Beloit.  The Bees scored all their runs in the fifth.  The Snappers out-hit the Bees 8-6.  Adam Bryant had two hits.  A. J. Achter gave up three runs (one earned) on four hits and three walks while striking out seven in six innings.  Sam Spangler struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up one hit.

Johnson City 6, Elizabethton 4.  The Twins led 3-2 after five, but a three run sixth gave the Cardinals the win.  Eddie Rosario and Matt Parker each had two hits.  JaDamion Williams hit a three-run homer and is batting .336.  David Hurlbut allowed five runs (three earned) on seven hits and a walk in six innings.

DSL Twins 4, Orioles 0.  The Twins scored two in the fifth to break a scoreless tie.  Two pitchers combined on a one-hitter.  Adonis Pacheco singled and doubled.  Jose Ramirez had two hits.  Jose Abreu worked six hitless innings, walking two.  Felix Jorge gave up a hit and a walk in three innings, striking out three.  The lone Oriole hit came leading off the eighth.

Columbus 11, Rochester 7 in Rochester.  The Red Wings led 7-1 after four.  Jeff Bailey had two singles and a home run (his twelfth), driving in three.  Luke Hughes had two doubles and a single.  Chase Lambin had two hits.  Eric Hacker struck out seven in five innings, allowing three runs on five hits and three walks.  Carlos Gutierrez took the loss, facing five batters and surrendering five runs on three hits and two walks.

Bowie 8, New Britain 5 in Bowie.  The Rock Cats led 5-3 in the sixth, but a four-run eighth gave the Baysox the victory.  Mike Hollimon singled and homered, his thirteenth.  Bobby Lanigan allowed four runs (two earned) on seven hits and a walk, striking out five in six innings.  Dakota Watts took the loss, surrendering three runs on three hits in two-thirds of an inning.

Palm Beach 9, Ft. Myers 5 in Ft. Myers.  The Cardinals scored one in the seventh and three in the eighth, breaking a 5-5 tie.  Josmil Pinto and Anderson Hidalgo each had two singles and a double.  Pat Dean allowed five runs (four earned) on nine hits and a walk in five innings.  Shooter Hunt returned and pitched two-thirds of an inning scorelessly despite giving up a hit and two walks.  Matt Hauser took the loss, giving up an unearned run on two walks in 1.1 innings.

Beloit 3, Burlington 1 in Beloit.  The Snappers scored in the fourth, fifth, and eighth.  They had only two hits, both in the fourth inning.  Pedro Guerra struck out eight in five innings, giving up a run on seven hits and two walks.  Michael Tonkin pitched two perfect innings.  Bart Carter struck out two in a scoreless eight, walking one.  Jose Gonzalez worked a perfect ninth for his eleventh save.

Johnson City 6, Elizabethton 2 in Elizabethton.  A three-run third was all the Cardinals needed.  Miguel Sano hit a home run, his thirteenth.  Marcus Limon allowed five runs on five hits and two walks in five innings.  Cole Johnson struck out five in four innings, giving up a run on five hits.

GCL Red Sox 4, Twins 3 at Twins.  The Twins fell behind 3-0 after one, scored once in the seventh and twice in the eighth to tie, but lost it in the ninth.  Candido Pimentel had two hits.  Drew Leachman hit a two-run homer.  Nathan Fawbush allowed three runs on six hits in three innings.  Angel Mata worked three  perfect innings, striking out three.  Markus Solbach took the loss, giving up a run on two hits and two walks while striking out three in two innings.

DSL Twins 5, Cubs1 4 at Twins (Game 1--9 innings--Scheduled 7 innings).  The Cubs1 scored two in the seventh to tie it, but the Twins won in the ninth when Erick Gonzalez singled in Ernesto Ciprian.  Jonatan Ynojoso had three hits and drove in three.  Sterling Bonilla gave up two runs (one earned) on nine hits and a walk in five innings.  Elias Villasana got the win, working 2.2 scoreless innings and giving up two hits and a walk while striking out three.

DSL Twins 4, Cubs1 1 at Cubs1 (Game 2--Scheduled 7 innings).  The Twins scored three in the sixth to break a 1-1 tie.  Eddy Concepcion had two hits.  Junior Subero got the win, giving up just an unearned run on three hits and five walks in 5.1 innings.  Elias Villasana pitched again in the second game, retiring all four batters he faced to get the save.

Pitcher:  Kyle Waldrop was 2-0, 1.37, 0.76 WHIP with 14 strikeouts in 19.2 innings (13 appearances).  For the season, he was 5-4, 4.20, 1.32 WHIP in 64.1 innings (44 appearances) at the end of July.  Honorable mention:  Liam Hendriks was 2-0, 3.66, 1.17 WHIP in three starts in July after being promoted from New Britain.  He struck out ten in nineteen innings.

NEW BRITAIN

Columbus 6, Rochester 3 in Columbus (completion of suspended game).  The Red Wings were already down 5-1 when the game was suspended and could not catch up.  Chase Lambin had two hits.  Andrew Baldwin pitched a strange complete game:  he was the starter when the game began a while back, and he picked it up and finished it last night.  He did well last night, but for the game he allowed six runs on ten hits and two walks while striking out six.

Columbus 4, Rochester 3 in Rochester (Game 2--Scheduled 7 innings).  The Red Wings rallied in the seventh, scoring three times and putting the tying run on third.  Brandon Roberts singled and doubled.  Luke Hughes had two hits.  Deinys Suarez made his Red Wings debut, allowing three runs on six hits in 5.1 innings.

New Britain 4, Bowie 3 in Bowie.  The Rock Cats trailed 3-1 after six but scored three in the seventh.  Chris Parmelee had two singles and a double.  Logan Darnell gave up three unearned runs in 7.2 innings, striking out six while giving up four hits and a walk.  Steve Hirschfeld allowed just a walk in 1.1 scoreless innings to get the save.

Beloit 4, Wisconsin 1 in Wisconsin (7 innings--rain).  The Snappers scored three in the third and it was all they needed.  Adam Bryant had two hits.  Manuel Soliman pitched a complete game, giving up a run on three hits and a walk.

Elizabethton 7, Johnson City 6 in Elizabethton.  The Twins led 7-2 after six, then hung on.  Miguel Sano had a double and two home runs, giving him twelve for the season.  He drove in three.  Adam Pettersen singled and homered.  Rory Rhodes singled and doubled.  Starter Tim Atherton struck out six in four innings, giving up two runs on three hits.  Todd Van Steensel got the win, striking out seven in 3.1 innings while giving up three runs (one earned) on three hits.  Corey Williams got the save, giving up a run on two hits.

GCL Twins 4, Red Sox 1 at Red Sox.  The Twins scored two in the fifth and two in the eighth.  The Twins had only three hits, but drew eight walks and took advantage of two Red Sox errors and three wild pitches.  Despite scoring four runs, they had no RBIs.  Bobby O'Neill went five shutout innings, striking out five while giving up two hits and two walks.  Kyle Wahl struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up one hit.
