If you like guitars, watch this guy. He invented his own guitar, and you can see him go to town on it here.

Brooks & Dunn, the most successful duo in country music history, got me hooked on country music with Boot Scootin' Boogie. So you have them to thank.
It was hard to just pick one song from these guys. But Neon Moon is the first song I ever danced to with a woman. It became "our song" I had with my high school sweetheart.

The Statler Brothers sang a little country and a lot of gospel. They were backup singers for Johnny Cash. I've always viewed them as the barbershop quarter of country music.
The Class of '57 is the song I feel highlights their vocal ranges the best while still being whimsical.

Last time I was guest DJ, all the way back in 2011, I only played one country song for ya'll. I sincerely apologize, so I'm here to rectify that this week.
Alison Krauss became very popular very quickly in 1994 at the age of 23 when she did a cover of Keith Whitley's "When You Say Nothing At All." To date it's still her only song that's cracked the Top 30, though her albums have always sold well, including her collaboration with Robert Plant. She has won more Grammy awards than any other woman in history. Even more than Derek Jeter.
Her voice is amazing.

I know hungryjoe just played one of her songs. But I'm going to her concert in about a month, so I'm playing her again. If I haven't made this clear, I'm a fan of her new album.

Thanks for a fun week. Back to non-guest DJs tomorrow.
Swans new album is my favorite of theirs that I've heard. They do this thing where once they get locked in, they build to a peak and where a post-rock group would pull back and gear up for the next swell, Swans just keep going at full-tilt and there's nothing to stop them. You half expect the song to just continue forever. This is a song like that except it's not forever, just 10 minutes.

An Italian group consisting of two bass players and a drummer. The hook in the first few seconds of this song is awesome.
Recorded in some guy's basement, as this type of thing should be. It's too bad that the bass gets drowned out a little bit in this video because the bass line is my favorite part of this song.

Do not. I repeat DO NOT watch the interview that starts after the song. It is unremarkably horrible.
Warning - Excessive use of strobe lights ahead. Every single one of their live videos is like this. I guess that's part of the experience.

Dawn of Midi - Piano, bass, and drums playing something that sounds like The Field (h/t to nibbish for that comparison) on instruments. All the tracks on the album grow out of the track before, so this is an excerpt that combines the last half of "Sinope" and the first part of "Atlas".
